BAD NEWS<<<<<<<<

Well, I got checked out yesterday. Turns out I have 3 fractured ribs. As an injury this one is a little bit more of a pain since affects my breathing and sleep.

GOOD NEWS<<<<<<<<

I picked up my CANNONDALE E440 yesterday and took it for just a little break in put up behind my house! It will be a little while before I can really ride at the level I look forward to.

IMPORTANT<<<<<<<<

Since I will be doing so many updates as my friends and I put these bikes through the reliability test I have decided to set up and "Auto-Responder System" to simplify the process of getting the info out.

All you'll have to do is send an email to the address I'll give you and you'll automatically receive every single new piece of info I write about on these bikes as we put more and more hours and stress on them. I should have this system set up and the special address by tomorrow.

Until then I all I can tell you is that the power on the bike is so smoothe it's extremely deceiving. Coming off a 650R(and being 6'4" 220lbs) almost everything under 600cc's feels like a moped to me!

Last night when I took the CANNONDALE E440 for a spin I was shocked how fast it would get up to speed. THe power is so smooth it's really deceiving! ALmost instantly I'd run out of gears and go "DAMN!" as I looked down at the Panoram and it would read 80 miles an hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so use to riding the 650R that anything without the torque of a john deer tractor feels slow to me even though it's not!

The bike steers and feels super light yet stable. When I got home I looked at the engineering of it and discovered exactly why! I'll share this tomorrow in the updates since I've gotta run. Thanks.

Jay.

I agree with you regarding the size and capabilities of these bikes. I'm 6'7" 260lbs and the bike really performs well eventhough my big butt is on it. It's so powerfull yet nimble. My prior bikes xr600r and KTM 620 felt good, but the x440s feels really good. I'm sure that E is even sweeter...

My brother is moving to Tuscon in March. Maybe we could hook up and ride someday.... Another friend works for ESPN and will be doing some work down in AZ and always takes his bikes w/him... :)

Hey you guys, If you think the bike performs well for you it must be a rocket when I'm on it. I'm 5'11 and weigh 135lbs. The x440s tosses me all over the place. I'm getting used to the power though, I just twist the throttle and hang on. It takes a conscious effort to keep the bikes front end down. Sure hope you get better JPeters, I'm sure you'll love your bike. :)

Thanks for all the info, I'm really looking forward to hearing how they hold up. I'm wanting to buy an E or a C sometime in the next two or three months. I'm a bit confused about the specs, my local dealer tells me the only difference between the two is lights and odometer. he can find no reference to the Panoram Computer???? :) he also says the price is identical?? Does anyone out there Know exactly what the differences are, and what is the deal with Odometer vs. Computer????

Thanks and keep the info coming.

Hey Jpeters, was talking to Shep over the phone about a E440. Been bugging him for a few months about when is Cannondale gonna release it. Mark said to login here and read your stories.

Me and the buddies are up in Flag, sounds like yawl and us like to ride about the same type of stuff, at about the same pace.

What's funny is I just got rid of my XR650R, got tired of it's poor performance and reliability in tight stuff. I'm mostly a two stroke guy, have been on KTM380's for the last 6 yrs. I bought the XR for dualsport/longer rides and while it was ok, it was a handfull to start after turning it upside down on a goat trail. Plus the right footpeg probs, clutch burnups, overheats,....

So, we got three teams going to Laughlin and Shep says I should be able to demo the Cannondale after the race.

Looking forwards to reading about your experiences. I go around 225-230lb and springing up both my KTM and my XR has helped when riding the rocks.

Wondering if stiffer springs are avail for the E440. Suspect we could get em via Ohlins....

We're looking forwards to coming down to Prescott to ride some of your trails.

BTW about 5 of us are headed down to the Lake Pleasant trail system this Sat leaving Flag at 7:30.

I know the E440 stickers at $7,495, but is anyone dealing on them? What is out-the-door price?

Anyone know what production will be like this year (are they going to make a lot of these) or will it be more the the KTM method?
