Man today was nutts, not for me directly but when your racing with 473 you never know what could happen. I seen a pole hit in one start, a wicked almost highside over a double, then a stoppie on the start followed by a nac nac almost over the bars my throttle cable broke dnf:worthy: I would have called it quits after half of that. thanks for the wafel cone Zeno:p

my excursion on saturday was a bitch. 1st lap trying to put a move on nafzger (like i could make it stick), the whole bike starts to wash out, I "save" it at a cost of a severely sprained or F'd up left knee. I will likely see you guys up there tommorow, but i will be the fat old guy who is walking at a snails pace.

hell yeah nancynuts, here's what I gotta say about yesterday: OUTTA CONTROL!!! for those that wanna hear a more detail description of my 250B race on sunday... first moto I hit a post on the start trying to squeeze between it and this guy, bike spun 180 degrees and I found myself going reverse against the rest of the field. Second moto we start and this guy eats shit HARD off the first step-up table. I mean his bike is cartwheeling and it was just a bad deal. Then I jump off one of those doubles with no lips yelling "WAFFLE COOOONES!!!!"" at pantynuts all sideways almost hitting a tree, flat landed, highsided, shoulder pops out and in. but yeah I saved it. Race gets red flagged for that guy that crashed though. On the restart: first corner some guy/s get underneath my rear tire, I rode an endo for about ten feet with my balls on the gas cap bike pretty much vertical, but again I save it. Think it's nuts? not yet. Come around the first jump where the guy just ate it hard and my bike starts to endo so bad that I throw my leg over the seat like I"m doing a nac nac cause I'm about to bail, and landed with both feet on one side of the bike. All this when I'm in the top 5 and I got the rest of the field on my ass. I'm like "holy shit" did I just pull that off?!?! Whatever I just throw my leg back over and go to give it gas.....bike's just idling. Well friggin throttle cable had snapped right before that jump. I DNFed and lost my bet with pimpnuts who beat me fair and square. And guess what, nowadays we race for waffle cones...mmm delishh

Hey, I was there too! :p

You guys failed to mention the craziest part of that 250B second moto. 250B and 250C were staggered and there is a huge pile up in the first corner for 250B, I'm talking 5 or 6 bikes on top of each other all mixed together and stuck. Well a bunch of EMTs and other on-lookers run out to get the bikes untangled and to pull their riders out of the carnage when they drop 250C! Where we were parked we had a clear view of it and I almost had to look away, but remarkably, not a single 250C rider hit the pile-up. There was a guy on the bottom of the pile of bikes and riders and he was actually in the safest spot since he had a force field of bikes and riders to block him from the 250C onslaught coming his way! I still can't believe that didn't end worse.

I ended up only riding +25 and after seeing Tommy Hofmaster pull up in practice, my goal was not to get lapped. First moto went alright, didn't know the track that well (first time racing there, 2nd time riding there, and first time riding it in reverse) and had some trouble with line selection, but I felt like I rode well and was pleased with my ride. Was catching Moto-520 a little about midway through but I think he saw me and picked up his pace, he was riding good for sure. 2nd moto got a better start and was right behind 473 and a couple other guys but just couldn't catch them. Had 520 and pimpnutts behind me when all of a sudden turning became really hard. Turned out I got a flat front tire. Tried to salvage it for a few turns, but next thing I know I've got pimpnutts behind me yelling his head off and he got around me and then 520 went by as well. Ended up pulling off with 2 laps to go with the scorecard reading 8-DNF :banghead: (actually 8-DNS, but I definitely started the second moto :excuseme: ) I was bummed because I was feeling really good out there.

Overall, I liked the track but like titanium said, the jumps were kind of boring and had hardly any lip to them. I don't mind not having a lot of jumps, but if you're going to make a jump at least make it "jumpable." Besides that, I really enjoyed the track and was very impressed with how well it held up. The ruts were awesome and I hope we go back soon

ohhh so that's what it was... I didn't see it but I must have been right in front of that pile up and that's probably what pushed my bike into an endo. It was the weirdest feeling cause I didn't really feel like anything hit me but all of a sudden my rear end start to lift up like crazy and stayed like that for a while...
Next time we gotta put a helmet cam on pimpnutts... let me tell you he's seen some crazy shit sunday...

Damn you guys were flying I felt great and just couldn't keep up, I would take a few turns to get going and by then I'd be by myself playing catchup, I wondered what happened to matt in the second moto I was catching up then you pulled off(I thought the yelling may have worked) I need to pick it up or I'll be buying the waffle cones next time:prof:

We raced there the last L.L.Q and that first turn was a killer all weekend. My sons last moto in 250b helped make a pile up.You could get a good start from the inside or the outside, but i think the outside was the best.Anyway he had been working the outside al weekend, top 5 all the time,he didn't get a good drop on the gate on the last moto.So he seen a hole in the middle from the out side about the same time two other rider did from the inside, they hit and he must have fliped 4 or 5 times, man he was banged up,knocked him out of top 5.Oh will just another day at the races.:ride:

Oh man that pile up in 250 B and then when the dropped the gate and let 250 C go, I thought I was dead as one of my buddies was in the pile up. I and several others jumped out to help as there were like 5 bikes tangled together and several riders buried under them. All the sudden we hear the roar of bikes coming at us and made a bee line for the side. I could not believe there was not a major disaster with that. You cannot even imagine the cuss words flying from everyone. Aaron the track owner was right there as well and he was screaming in the radio at the starter. thankfully no one hurt in that mess.

The track did hold up well , he keeps adding wood chips and had it prepped great. I agree with Matt though the jumps need some work. My boys survived with no injuries or bike breakdowns so we hit Walnut on Monday and after two days of practice the track was perfect Monday morning and good turnout.

I went to Byron on Sunday morning and camped Sunday night with my two boys. We, of course, had a great time. Yes...the waffle cones take deliciousness to a new level. The racing on Sunday was fun although I sucked crap the whole time (I actually missed the gate drop in the second +25 moto due to brain fade...I thought we were second drop and wasn't really paying attention until I saw my class fade through the first turn). I went without my wife so I had to juggle watching a 3 year old, helping my 9 year old race on the hilltop track, and racing two classes. It got pretty hectic (especially when my youngest crapped his pants right before my moto) but we still had a blast. The Monday stadium race was really cool. They completely rebuilt the track and made it cool. Anybody find out what happened to Jesse Keith?

Oh yeah...the pits on Sunday night were awesome. Everyone was hanging out camping and having a great time. It was almost surreal to see so many people hanging around after the races. They had a pig roast Sunday night and an awards ceremony. It was really cool!

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are!

What happened to Jesse? Did he crash and get hurt? Hope not, Jesse is a great guy.

I'd also like to note that since this was my first race at Byron it was also my first time experiencing Bear, the guy working the grill at the concession stand. Sitting there watching and listening to him while you eat lunch is worth the price of admission alone! :smirk:

Not for me! :banghead: Jesse went down on Monday and I thought he broke something...I know he was taken to the hospital. I'm thinking damage to his shoulder or something. You're right...he's a really nice dude.

jesse jumped that triple on the north end of the sx track, after pulling the holeshot in 250 B. He landed off the edge of the landing at the wrong angle and he flipped over the bars. I guess you would call it a broken collar bone, but it's not really broken? It pulled out of the shoulder at the place where it connects to the shoulder blade. He is going to get an opnion on wether to pin it or just let it heal. Jesse was actually riding well and liked the track.

Brett got some pics of a guy who rides SX alot and it's a crash sequence we just posted up on MRC.
