Especially knowing this is the last year for them.

If Honda said the XR650R is gone and there will be NO replacement I would probably go deeper into debt to get one.

On the other hand, if I did pull the trigger I would feel pretty rotten if Honda came out with the e-start, USD, 270lb XR650R that I really want.

Is this L.A. Honda and OTD price?

Look at it this way: IF, Honda comes out with your dream bike--as described--it is going to be on the dark side of $7k. Worse case (IF they come out with an 08 replacement) you'd still have a super-competent spanking-new XRR for $2k+ less than the mystery bike. IF there's going to be an 08 mystery bike.

Like my dear, sainted granny used to say: "A bike in the garage is worth two in the brochure."

That's a sweet deal if it is OTD.

No that was Bert's and it was not OTD. I was not really shopping, just sort of stumbled onto it. I did not check LA Cycle.

I checked with Berts as well. They kind of goofed up. They picture an "R", but detail it out as an '07 XR650LL rather than an XR650RL. I'm pretty sure it's an "L" that they sell for that price, but then it's right back in the ballpark of what OTD's price is after tax etc. Last I checked, OTD Cycles had no more R's, at least as of last week.

$6000 out the door would be right in line with what OTD Cyclesports was selling them for when they had them. I'm quite sure that Bert's price is for the "L" even though they picture the "R" and it would work out to around $5400-$5600 out the door, which again is about the same as OTD Cyclesports on their "L".

I paid $5000 OTD for an 2007 "R".

So that price is not "redicules". (I will not state where)

The best desert bike ever made for $5500 OTD is a great deal. There are plenty of 06, 05, 04 new bikes out there that can be picked up for $5000 OTD.

Deal of a century, would be hard to pass that up!
Paid $4992 OTD (at OTD), but that was in late '03 so that is an absolutely smokin deal for an '07. For what you get, even at $5500-$6000 you'd not exactly be throwing money away.

Not in my mind.!!!!

The bike has not changed since the year 2000!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Except for BNG's and maybe a clutch seal.

WTF did the guys that bought the 2000 model in 2000 pay? That is what I should be paying!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong.....she is still the best out there.....450X guys need not apply.

L.A. Honda has sold XR650R's off and on for $4995 OTD, you just have to wait for there deal to come around. I wounder how I know this? John Burr was selling for $5200 OTD two years ago but, I do not know if they have any now.

I stopped in a Honda dealership this week in New Hanpshire & had my bike with me. The owner seen my bike & wondered what it was. Granted, it was in supermoto trim but you think since he was a long time Honda dealer he would know what model it was. Go Figure

1.5 years ago I picked up a brand now 03 650R for $4,900 otd in Colorado. Same bike as the new ones. I'd have preferred the L now that I think about the valve adjustments and frequent oil changes, and the fact I'm really not enjoying the kick starting much. Most of my riding is 50/50 dirt street as well. I ride a BMW 1200GS adventure for the street though. I put the Acerbis sahara tank on after looking at IMF and Clark crap quality and having run out of gas in Moab Utah 3 times on a 150 mile run. Carry a siphon hose. Also installed promoto billet rack, Baker's skid plate , FMF pipe and jetting /K&N, and street titled it. A fun ride now. But if you buy the L and wanna trade for a 1300 mile 650R let me know ;-)
