What mods have you guys made so far with the drz?Mines still stock and im considering a pipe, but I do love the quietness of the stock pipe. The only complaint I have on the bike is its to weak in first gear for steep hills.Other than that the bike is a winner.

Hey Tennessee!

My friend is getting the Yoshi pipe (no header though) in the next week or so. He can post the results when he gets it.

Also, Cary has begun dual sporting his bike.

Bryan...

P.S. I'll have a forum going for DRZ's too by the weekend with a pictures area and other stuff just like the WR400 forum. Thanks everyone for the 'prodding' to do this site.

Hi guys. Took a bit of looking around ThumperTalk to find the DRZ forum. I think it should be more clearly displayed. Glad to see it :)

OK! You guys are getting antzy!

I am in the process of doing a full blown forum for the DRZ. If you don't tell anyone yet, I'll show it to you?

And, it's both of your fault that I HAD to do this! (just kidding)
I should roll it out by the weekend. It has a few bugs in it now.

SEND ME SOME PICTURES TO POST! ! !

One more thing Bryan. I know that you really want to buy a DRZ400E now that you have ridden one. The happy button sure is sweet. Let me know when you buy one. I promise not to tell all your WR riding buddies over at the WR Forum. Don't tell TennesseeT though. He is a blabbermouth! :) :D KIDDING!

Yes, there is an edit button right above each individual post/reply. It is an icon with a pencil on it.

I like the DRZ alot but it needs some suspension work for the kind of riding I do. Plus, It's a little small for me.

But, the engine is AWESOME and the electric start, well, what can I say.
:)

The DRZ fits me perfectly. I'm only 5'9"/150lbs though and ride mostly woods and mountain trails. I have read that the seating position is a bit cramped, but it is far roomier than my RMX. Was the DRZ you rode stock, or was the airbox lid removed and the carb rejetted?

I'm going to start adding fork oil thru the air bleeder at 5-10cc. at a time to increase bottoming resistance and add a link to the chain to increase the wheel base.
I'll probably leave the exhaust insert in. I'm really tempted to punch out the center of the insert, however.
I've taken off a LOT of unecessary clamps and crap and replaced them with zip ties. i usually ride with the head light and tail light off, unless i expect to do a LONG ride in unfamiliar trails.

Has anyone removed the radiator over flow? Results?

Keep an eye on your radiator louvers. I lost one yesterday, but wound up finding it. they are on a little loose. ZIP TIES?

instead of taking exhaust end cap
completely off, I altered it by pulling it off and cutting the spark arrestor solid end
cap off, then added a sleeve 1 1/2" dia. and tapped it so i can add the solid plug back on the end if I ride in the woods. I then went to the other end and opened up the size
of the exhaust tip it's about 7/8" dia.
I took a 1 3/8" dia. hole saw and open it right up. man does it breath now on top end.
sounds great not to loud. it rips.took off
airbox lid and re-jetted to 165 main.
check out www.mcnews.com.au go to tests section under drz400 good dyno's

Mark, still had same power down low, which ain't much to talk about. but with it breathing so well it very responsive, a little twist goes a long way !!!
i've read going to a 48 pilot jet helps
low end, other than going to a new pipe !!

Hello All

It has been awhile since this was posted and there are alot more people on this forum which means more input, so lets see what everyone is running.Heres what I have done.

Kickstart model

Made a bracket out of stainless and moved the hot start button up on the inner bark buster mount

Removed snorkle on airbox

165 main jet

Tried moving the needle up on notch ,it seemed to pull a little harder but throttle response was not as crisp so I went back to stock position and like it better

Stock pilot jet

Mixture screw 2.5 turns out

I ran one of the 2 carb vent hoses from each side of the carb up and under the tank so if you are in deep water and your vent hoses are covered the carb is still vented

List of add ons

Yosh slipon pipe

Moose bark busters and plastic fairings for pro tapers

Doug Henry bend pro taper bar with 1 inch cut off each end

Scotts top clamp and steering damper

Cycra vented front number plate

Suspension revalved by MX-TECH for off road and woods conditions

Fork springs .48kg
Shock spring 5.6
Oil level 115mm currently(I have run it as high as 100mm with no problems)

WER skid plate
