Can you turn the WR's lights off?

my reason is to save power while cranking , but my lights are wired to the battery not the ac side of the stator.

My reasons for installing a switch is 1 -- I see no real good reason to make my stator do extra work needlessly to keep a light burning. 2 -- I still like to have the control over whether my light is on or off. I live in Canada where all vehicles on the road have daytime running lights as a mandatory feature on the vehicles and with my dirtbike (which is not road legal) I'm being a real rebel.
