I originaly talked to the guy at Clarke in the spring and the '06 YZ tank didn't fit the '07 WR and he didn't think they would have one ready till maybe September if at all. That;s all I know as after hearing about that kind of delay I too went the IMS route with the '02 WR petcock and have not looked back. The bike is still just as narrow in the transition area between the seat /tank. Dave.

I called clarke three weeks back and they said they were shooting for Sept for a WR tank

Dave the tank / shroud is atleast a 1/2" wider than the seat on each side:excuseme: I don't have pics :bonk:

I don't think this is an issue for everyone and I gladly give up the narrow feel of the bike for the mileage but I ride "knee knocked" to the point my shroud graphics get worn thru by my knees and I really like the narrower feel.

Thanks for the info on the Clarke, I'll keep my eyes open for their WR version...

I guess it does poke out a little on each side but I went from an '02 WR 426 with a Clarke tank and the new config doesn't bother me in any way at all, sorry for the slight miss info. WR Dave

The tank is much lower on both sides and higher in the filler cap area. Check out some of the pics of the bikes in the "Sexiest WR " thread and check out the differences between the stock and IMS 3.1 tanks. There really isn't a better option in the 3.1 size and if your looking for that size of tank you have found what your looking for. WR Dave. ?

IMS, big plus. Get a CRF 450 fuel line, Cheaper than a yammie and a better fit, Also, put 2 washers under the tank locating bolt for the seat. The big flat one halway down the back of the tank. This will make the seat slip straight on and line up. Some people have been butchering their seats to get them on, but this is all thats needed,:applause:

I have this same setup. 2007 WR, IMS tank, YZ shrouds, Unabiker radiator guards, stock petcock with longer fuel line. I haven't had any troubles with this setup. I also haven't really noticed the heavier feel of the bike since it has much more fuel, nor do I notice any added width. The extra gas more than makes up for any difference in feel. It's so nice to not have to run on reserve to get home from every ride!

Adam

So the Unabiker braces work with the 3.1 tank and yz shrouds on an '07?

It is obviously bigger.. But a lot smaller and better built to fit than the IMS tank I had on my Cr500. But it is nothing like the stock tank. You may want to get some heat shield to keep you gas from boiling. I really like mine in did about 65 miles in heat hot enough to boil my coolant while climbing the long technical stuff.. The gas didn't seem to be getting hot. I went with the clear tank so I can see how much fuel I have at a glance.. I think I still have about a gallon left. I would get the tank

Ok... so I have a 2007 Wr 450 and I just bought and installed an IMS tank. I seem to be having a little bit of a problem with the seat not being able to slide all the way on so I can put the two rear bolts in. Its needs to slide another 3/8ths of an inch forward. Has anyone else encountered this? What did you do?

Eesh, see post #27. You need two washers under the tank locating bolts.

Does the trick. ?

Also to others: I don't mind having the petcock backwards on my IMS tank.

It took a few weeks to remember, but it's really not a big deal, to me anyway.
