i have the oppertunity to buy either a 2006 or 2007 yz450f, the 06 has fmf 4.1 with powerbomb and blue excel wheels, with white plastics, and around 50hrs, the 2007 has yoshimurra pipe, black pro wheels, has 30 hrs and is as clean as can be, the 06 is 4,200 the 07 is 4600.... what are the possatives/ negative about each bike?

Buy the '07!!! Newer bike, less hrs, only $400 more.
The '07 had minimal upgrades over the '06, rear shock improved, new top triple clamp and bars, and new brake rotors.

Grant Langston didn't seem to like is 07 but is raving over the 08.
Considering that these guys can have any suspension or engine mod done I assume the frame is the big difference. Anybody knows?

I've ridden both. If they were set up equal suspension wise and you opened up the 07 exhaust, I don't think there would be any noticable difference to me. The only complaint I had was my brother likes his levers lower than I do. Get the newer bike but for a lower price, more like the 06 price you are looking at. Grant Langston is in a different universe than I am.

I have spent a lot of time on both. The '06 has a TAD more power, sometimes that's good, and sometimes that's not good. The '07 has a firmer suspension. The '07 has killer brakes (wave type rotors). Both awesome bikes, you will be happy with either one. My buddy on his '06 is a bit faster than me, but I can ride longer than him, as my '07 is a little bit easier to control.

my dad and i got on a fireroad and opened em up and i came out on top, i also heard the 07 has 2 more hp. the 06 just hits a little harder. i like my 07 better, especially for hillclimbing, it makes it easier to climb when you don't get those violent hits that make you feel like it'll loop.
