ha, ha, NO, even icc shifter kart 125's that are blueprinted and tuned to the max only make 30 ish h.p. and believe me they squeeze every ounce of power they can out of those things

Juice it and I bet you could get 50-60 hp for about 5 seconds then Ker-Plow..LOL.

In all seriousness 125's need more torque than horsepower.

factory h.p. numbers are garbage they can be as much as 30% higher than true numbers and if you are talking rear wheel dyno h.p. cut off another 25% oh and dont count by sayin: oh i added a pro cicuit pipe thats 10 hp, oh and v force reeds thats 5 hp, oh and uni filters good for 2 more and i put a carbon fiber ignition cover theres 1 more. my point is if you put every hp adding doo dad on it it would end up being a 150 hp 125! its like my friend bought a name brand crate motor for his chevelle it was advertised as 425 hp. but on the machine shop dyno it was more like 370.
in the world of horsepower there is more guesswork than actual factual numbers. to get that kind of accuracy every time you would need a government funded research lab with a handful of nasa physics guys. and every motor would have to be run on the same machine, to rule out errors.

im probably wrong but maybe if you bore it out to a 144 you might hit the 40 hp cause the ktm144 makes i think 40hp....not sure

It can be done, but won't be ride-able, and probably won't be reliable.

Are 153cc cr125 2005 dyno's out at the crank 43.1 @ 22.2lbs torque (10,200rpm)

Run it all year hard (race every weekend, and lots of practice) changed piston 4 times this year. Had no crank problems with the stroker crank, it lasted all year(Motul oil). Had to change the clutch plate's alot. Other than that had no problems.

It will pull a modified 250f "no problem" Bike RIPS!

ya really don't get "more" hp fom most pipes on newer bikes,It just gets moved to a different area of the rpm range. And sometimes that's a GOOD thing.

a 46 hp 125 huh, ahhh yes but they have stroker kits and are close to 150cc.
KTM 125's do make around 37 to 38 horsepower, but they are class leaders in hp. A 98' CR125 makes around 32 . and the cr 450 makes 54. i guess as long as you are willing to keep dumping money into it you can get some 40+ hp but why not just move up to a 250? i moved from a 125 at 15 to a xr 500 then a 600 and to a cr500, i will never go back to those lil 125's but then im not a moto-x er im a desert racer.

40 HP can easily be done.. 06 YZ dynoed at 33.5, CR at 33.7, RM at 34.6, and KTM at 37.3.. all stock. In fact, a 125 can be made to have almost as much HP as a stock 250 (46ish). The reason is the 125 motor is much more advanced than a 250, being that 4 125cc motors used to make up the GP500's.

Haha tell that to the shifter kart engine builders. Those motors are tuned to only make power from 11K-14K use special oil and make every ounce of power a 125cc smoker is capable and there is NO way there are only making 30ish:lol:

Road race 125cc bikes are making close to 50hp BTW.:banghead:

A kart motor built turning 14,000-15,000 rpm's will make 45-48(around there alot depends on other things) But your looking at a top end motor.

CRANK Horsepower Est. @ 10,500-11,000 (below are est. on what CRANK h.p. you can get out of certain motor displacements. They are est. because alot depends on how the rest of the motor is set up. The higher you peak it out in rpms the more h.p. (kart Motor)

125cc 32-36
132cc 36-38
144cc 38-41
153cc 41-43+

KTM 125 motor is set up really good out of the box 35-36 est.

To get 40h.p. out of a 125 you would have to raise the peak power in rpms12,000+ and It would take a certain riders to ride a top end power motor in MX outdoors and indoors.

I got one(homelite 30cc) for kick and giggles I took the cylinder added two more transfer ports(4ports) and made a triple port exhaust, high comp. head, made a tuned pipe for it(Open stinger). It peaks out at 14,700rpm @ 7.1h.p. it screams. The neighbors hate it, LOL.

Most factory hp numbers are taken from teh crank, at least Honda HP numbers are. You can typically take off around 15% for a ballpark fiugre as to what RWHP will be. Everydyno will vary some and type of dyno will also. I've seen variances of 3 HP on the same engine run on two different dynos under the same climate controlled conditions.

Can you get 40hp out of a 125, sure you can. Heck some of the 125 GP roadrace engines are in the 50hp neighborhood. THing is, they will have a high, narrow peaky power curve. Our old race engiens were generally down a couple of hp or more to our competitions, which was fine with us. Our motors were set-up not for peak hp, but to have a wider, broader power band to maximise the amount of time spent running it under the curve where it is making power.

why spend all this money modding a 125cc to make 40+ hp when u could get a 250 2smoker to do that stock more than likely and also it will probablys make it less reliable the more you put of these crazy mods on, if you want your bike to be more powerfull that much sell it and buy a bigger more powerfull one
