I'll bet there is great riding in your area.

What mods have you done on your bike? What kind of riding do you do?

We need details!

Hi guys. I'm Don too, and had recently acquired a new S-model. To be exact, on the 23rd of march.
But, I'm from Singapore, yes, Asian. Hope it's still relevant, to all the topics discussed here.

This's gonna be my favourite site! :)

if it's about a DRZ, it's relevant. you might hear us stray and talk about out Land-stealing President here in the USA occasionally, but just ignore us.

I just bought my S last week and I love it. AWESOME BIKE!! I bought some Acerbis Rally Pro guards and had to fight with them a bit to get them on but they fit the stock bars. I am also having a little trouble with the shift lever when I wear my boots. I raised the lever one notch and it works OK but not great. Anyone else having similar problems? Is the lever longer for the E? Thanks. Chris

Yeah, I've came to know about the on-going land-robbing situation over there. And thought we Singaporean here is bad.. as off road riding is practically illegal here!

Anyway, had junked my S's heavy stock headlight and brakelight assembly to replace with a Acerbis DHH and a Acerbis enduro unit, respectively. Didn't like the stock handlebar thus bought a Pro Taper Cr-Lo Bend in it's place. Had removed the cut-off switch on the clutch perch, since I feel it's not really neccessary. Also managed to re-run the headlight wires, to enable the battery-consuming headlight to be switched off. In fact, the first thing I took off was the road tyres. Don't know about over your state, mine came with a knob-less full round tarmac tyres! Now it's rolling on some good knobbys. :) Had also just got myself a "Factory Power", if you guys've heard of it. Gonna put it on and access the difference.

Other than the above, motor-wise, my S is still box-stock. Anyone had tips on getting the most out of the bike while not sacrificing the reliabilty and fuel economy?

Don

I bought mine from Carl's mine is a kick start model I think they are just talking about their second shipment. last I knew they were still getting 5 more E models and 2 more kick start versions. I traded a 98 KLX 300 on mine and they treated me very well beat suzuki of Caldwell by over $100 dollars. if you are interested in riding a kick version e-mail me.

well TENN the fmf exhaust is nice my friend has the yoshi exhaust and its not friendly to your ears the fmf is its free flowing and a bit louder than stock with a large noticable power gain and it looks good and the price was right 210 bucks im happy with my choice

Yeah...what FMF pipe is it? If you go to their site they have the Power Core IV SA (I think) due to release this week...their banner ad shows it on the DRZ. I had the Performamax on my '90 350 and it did alot for the low and mid-range and didn't increase the sound too much..still quiet enough for the neighbor hood. I really like what I've had with FMF, let us know your jetting changes too!

Thanks,
B. Myers

its the ivsa2 pipe i ordered it from dennis kirk catalog for the jetting i called fmf and they state to run stock pilot & 1 1/2 turn on air screw and a 160 main but that dosent work well so the jetting is 165 main 48 pilot and needle in stock it runs perfect with air noozle out of air box yea the yoshi pipe gives me a headache the out put is not user friendly and is way to loud for even closed course i think
