no, i didn't leave the key on.

went to start our lawn tractor and the battery was dead. where the tractor was, i could only get the DR-Z near it. so i figured...What the he!!.
got the jumper cables out., hooked them up. made sure to make the last ground connection away from either battery........... and the tractor started up right away.
i laughed my a$$ off. jumping a lawn tractor off with a dirt bike!!!!! :)

Now you know what you have to do when you go riding with your DRZ happy start buddies, if anyones battery goes dead, just jump start it from another DRZ - this may pose an interesting project, install an easy lightweight jump start system on the bike - plug it in, plug it in .......

Here's something else you can do with the DRZ battery. On my dual-sported DRZ400E I have an....um.....I have a plug wired in for my electric vest. I may get teased about this but don't knock it till you've tried it. An electric vest is pure heaven on cold days, especially when riding on the street.

Good thinking i_carumba, gives new meaning to the word "thermal underwear" ! - makes good sense though, standardize on an electrical plug for the DRZ and it could be used for all purposes, jump starts, heated underwear, those fancy walkie talkies for on the go communication, etc etc ..... talk about yuppie scum .....

There are a few different brands of electric vest out there. I bought one made here locally by New Age Motorcycle Accessories Limited. I live in Vancouver Canada. It cost 99 bucks(approx $70 U.S.) This brand vest is widely available around here. I preferred this vest to the Bates one I looked at because it is very thin, not bulky at all. You want the vest to fit snug, over your shirt. Add a decent jacket that is wind proof and your all set. You will not believe the difference it makes. I used to ride street bikes alot and no matter how bundled up you got, after an hour or two on the road you would get cold on chilly days. With the vest you can dress lighter, and because your core is kept warm, your hands and feet will be warmer too.
The good thing is you can plug in in the morning when it may be cold out, and when the day warms up, simply unplug the vest. Off road your body makes all the heat it needs(and then some!) but the wind blast and lack of exertion while riding on the road can make even warm days feel cold after awhile. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Hmmmmmm!!! Sounds a bit wimpish but might have to look in to this one.

With winter heading this way it's starting to sound like just the thing to make those freezing cold days on the trail just that bit more bearable.:ride:
