For those that have the kick start model, how hard/easy is it to start when it is cold, and after it has been dumped/flooded?
I currently own an XR600, and am tired of the all day affair to start it after it has been dropped. I don't want to get the kick DRZ if it doesn't start easily after being dropped, stalled, flooded, or just plain turned off.

Thanks

I have a kick model and have had no trouble starting the bike when hot. The decompression lever and the hot start knob make things pretty easy (3 -4 kicks). The one thing I've found is you need to keep your hand off the throttle until the bike starts. Otherwise it will flood. I have not dumped the bike yet so I can't tell if this is a problem or not.

Go for it!!! You won't regret it.

i had an XR600 and had NO problems starting after a fall. BUT,you have to do these things first.
1)kick it thru with about 15 half-kicks with the compression release and NO THROTTLE. then line up TDC,again no throttle, and kick from the top of the stroke. if it does not start(rare) try...

2)line up TDC and hold throttle wide open. the 600 almost always starts with throttle held wide open.

the XR600 was one of the EASIEST starting 4-strokes i ever had. it was easier to start than the XR400.

I have a kick version, mine lights on the first kick almost every time. all you need to do is pull in the decompression lever, push on kick starter till lever pops back out return kickstarter to top kick. even when it is cold with a little choke mine lights with the first couple of kicks. I don't think you will have any problem starting it after the xr. Mine starts easier than my last bike (98 KLX 300)
