I did my 1st race on the DRZ400 this past weekend. In the main, I loved it. I didn't think the bike handled real well at higher speeds. I bottomed the front forks several times off some ledges as speed. The forks feel great in the more technical tight stuff.
Anyone found anything similar? Suggestions?
What about more fork oil?

Jim...My bike handled a little rough at higher speeds. Then I checked the tire pressure. It had WAY to much air pressure. After I took some air out it really smoothed out at higher speeds.Im also having the same problem with bottoming out,so I can't help you there.

I run mine with 10 mm more oil height and 12 clicks out on compression.
I'm jumping 30 ft doubles and is it plush!
it's so plush I really can't tell when or if it's actually bottoming.remember these forks are from the 96-97 RM250's all the mags
from that year say it was the best set of forks for those years.

I'm running 15cc more in each frok leg and 8 clicks out on compression and 9 out on rebound. of course i weigh 210 lbs and ride B-Class Harescrambles.
the forks will still bottom off bigger jumps(~20ft is big to me)

the added oil helps a good bit.
