After riding with scarymyth in Colorado/Utah, I was a witness to the difference in starting procedures between my WR400 and his DRZ400. I thought I would detail each.
WR400:
1) Put trany in neutral or hold in clutch
2) Kick soft until compression prevents further kicking (top dead center)
3) Pull in compression release
4) Kick a little more, just past tdc
5) Release compression release
6) Kick bike hard
7) If it starts, fold in kick stand and go
8) If it doesn't start, pull hot start button and go to number 2
9) If it does start, somehow, on the side of hill, while using the brakes and clutch, try and figure out how to put the hot start button in quickly while all hands and feet are occupied before the bike stalls.
10) If bike stalls, go to 2
DRZ400:
1) Wait until your friend with the WR400 successfully performs the above procedure.
2) While actually LETTING OUT THE FREAK'N CLUTCH and GOOSING THE GAS, hit the start button and ROOST your stalled WR buddy ALL IN ONE QUICK FLUID MOTION! ! !
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! ! !
So, yes, AS A WR400 OWNER I HATE THAT LITTLE FREAK'N DRZ HOT START BUTTON!
