What is the most easy way to learn doing stoppies.I`ll post some pictures when i`m able to do it.thanks!

I'm getting pretty good at them with my 270mm front brake rotor but I can only come to a stop and bring it up. I want to learn how to do the rolling ones, that's going to be a lot harder to master me thinks. Maybe my soon to get 20" front tire will give me enough traction for that?

Hey Guys,

I am the stoppie king.. ?

Stoppies:

1. Get the brakes prepped by doing a few quick stope to firm up the feel/pull

2. Build speed. About 45km/h

3. Apply the front brake nice and hard, but be on the tank when doing so.

4. Left your self forward at the same time. Like doing a bunny hop on a bicycle, the bike will follow

5. When you feel the back end lifting, gently release the back brake a little to compensate for the forward/lifting momentum. The bike will rise to about 3 feet of the groud to a pivot point, just like a wheelie

6. Feather the brake if it goes too high or too low.

Realistically, it is a practice and feel thing.... Currently, I can haul the brakes in at 60mph and have the back wheel float in the air to a full stop. At slower speeds I can have the bike swing around 90degrees to a stop.

I will show you all how to do it at Moab.

It seems to me the best way to learn is do it on a downslope. About 30 degree slope.

Im not good at it, but when I have tried it, this works best for me.

It feels like the rear wheel is 3 feet off the ground and its probably only 3 inches.

Syd. An ohlins steering dampner....wha? Ive yet to hear of this.

a ohlins steer damp is same as a scotts ?

What you can try is practice on a bicycle. This also works for jumping techniques. What you want to do is lightly hop up on your pedals (unloading your body weight) and simutaneously grabbing a handful of front brake. The rear will lift up immediately. BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can use this technique to swing the ass end of the bike to the side (looks great 10 feet off the ground). Crashing on your bicycle won't be as damaging to you(?) or your YZ/WR.

Here's your pic Syd. Is that you? That's a pretty nice one. I actualy learned on my streetbike which has predictable traction every time, I'm finding it harder on the dirt where the surfaces are always changing.
