From:  John Williams (jawilliams_02x@yahoo.it)

Hello,
I read your message with great sense of understanding.

I will go ahead and Instruct a personal client in the states to issue you a certified cashier check or money order which would cover all expenses for it. It is most likely you would get it sometime next week or even sooner.

He will be issueing you a cashiers check or money order to the tune of $7,000 The reason being that after you deduct your  $2,400 and other expenses emanating from all forms of charges.

The rest could be wired by you to an international shipping agent via western union money transfer, who will be communicated to you in due time.

He will help in the shipping of the item to my location I would want it to be packaged and delivered in the safest and most proffesional way.

The shipper is likely to be reluctant to pick it up until he is mobilised, i.e the balance wired to him is his fees for his services, tranportation to and from clearing and all other charges involved in this transaction okay.

He would be advised to come to your house or the location that you give me for him to pick it up as soon as he is mobilized by the funds you send to him.

Also before I forget Please, give the information i have requested in order for my client to make the payment:

(1)cheque payable to:

(2)Home Address:

(3)state:

(4)post code:

(5)Country:

(6)telephone number/mobile phone:

Please send me the information quickly for my business associate who is planning to make payment to you.

so I can always contact you on to monitor proceeding of things.please do get back as soon as possible.

Thanks

JOHN

How are you doing with the whole member of your family? I just communicated with my client that will issue out the payment for the goods to you. She has assured me that she will send the payment to you as i have directed her ( I have fax her your full Name and Address). I have  advice her to send $ 4,000 to you. The reason for this is that She is owing me some funds so i have authorized her to pay it along the issuing check. As soon as the money get to you, you are advice to deduct your money and i will instruct you on how i want to remitt my remaing balance.
Please i am counting on you regards this issue because i have advice my client to send out the payment to you base on trust and assurance from me. Remember the cost of transfering the money to me or to the shipping company

I want you to contact the client right now to confirm when the payment will get to you. makesure you email me back to confirm the receipt of this mail. Posted my bike on Craigslist, had someone ask me if it was still available and in good shape, to which I replied yes and yes... got this in return:

Quote

Hello.
Thanks for the prompt response and i will love to make an instant purchase. I will be mailing (overnight) a certified check to cover the cost while you hold on my behalf. Once you have this, my mover  will come for the pickup at your place.I will be needing the following information to issue out the payment . .
1.Name to be on the check
2.Address with Zipcodes
3.Tel #
Please note that the payment will be overnight to your address and its bound to be delivered within 2 to 3 days. I have taken a close look at the advert and am completely satisfied i really need this and would
appreciates that you help save this for me till the payment arrives.Furthermore do remove the posting
from CRAIGSLIST. as am definitely buying it from you

Clerk.

How wrong is this?  Oh, let me count the ways!

Anyone have any good ideas I can screw with this guy?

I love how he never once even references what 'it' is, or the actual price!!  Holy generic form letter, Batman!

Tell him cash only, unmarked small bills, left in a brown paper sack in some location in a nearby town. After you get the money you will notify him where to pick up the bike.

Do what Chickenhauler did...

Look up the information the scammer requested, but instead of giving him your info, give him your local city police chief's or county sheriff's info.  The law enforcement like to be made aware of this activity, and what better way to help them out!!!

Though the scam artist may get a little cranky.  The scam artist's check was mailed, but not deposited, and in the middle of his and Ch's discussions, the scam artist said  "Yo Idiot, whoever you claim you are, you are nothing but a filthy piece of shit, i knew from day one that you would try a fast one on me, i will have all your information given to the FEDS, you are just one of the reason why legitimate buyers should be careful. Look outta your window, they are waiting to pick you up."  This was back in September...

You know, I didn't even think about it, but I could always tell him to send the check to my work address... think he knows what a District Attorney is?  :busted: Of course, I'd like copies of his ID, too, and his 'mover's' ID as well... and fingerprints... you know, all that good stuff!

What is weird is, don't these guys usually want money?  What's the end result of the scam, they get my bike and I get a worthless check?    That almost seems like too much trouble for a scam, to tracable, now I'm curious...

Usually they aske you to send the difference back after deducting your cost and whatever the mover charges.  It's weird how they can't seem to learn english very well, seems like they'd fool alot more people.
