02 426F or 03 450F

new rider to the dirt riding on the street for years looking at both of the bikes above 02 426f he is looking for $3200.00 for it and the 03 450f is $3400.00 i am 6'3" tal and about 245 lbs and info would be helpful thanks both prices are in canadian

im 6'1 255..and 16 yrs old..this is my 3rd yr riding..and i went from a 125 2 banger to an 03 yz450f..be prepared for bad handling in soft sand..havnt ridden the 426..but i know for a fact that you will never regret buying a 450..it is AMAZING..if you like wheelies...o man! thats all i can say..that was the fastes yr of the 450..but worst handling..but i can deal with it..and the 450 is i think 12 lbs lighter than the 426..it is pretty nimble as well..never looking back after buying mine!

You should be able to find a better price on those bikes. Check craigslist.

That being said, what kind of riding are you going to be doing? Keep in mind the 426 has a five speed tranny while the '03-'05 450's have a four speed tranny. I prefer the five speed for woods, etc. If you decide on the 426 see if you can find one that has had the auto-decompression exhaust cam modification done to it already.

i will be done a bit of both track a tail one of my local tracks is all sand i was on a 426 the day i was on it and it work well, not that i was flying around the track it was the frist time i have been on a dirt bike so

Hey im in the same position as you, im going from an 04 125 to an 03 450 soon. I really hope im not really disapointed with the handling. O well itl hopefully more than make up for that in the straights!!

well..both bikes get super hot when putting..but my 450 puts a lot..and does fine..its an 03..and i haven't had any probs..just look into a good antifreeze like..water wetter or engine ice

ok i used water wetter in am sport bike and it is a great product thanks for all the help i will have to make up my mind soon
