Tim, Im not from Colorado but I am going out in 2 weeks and I was told it would be in your best intrest to go to a 42 pilot. Thats what I am doing anyways. Of course I will be at 10,000 feet and above so that may not apply to you. Just thought I would throw that in.

If you are WR timed I would bring 165, 162 and 160 and maybe even a 155 depending on how high you will be going.

If you are YZ timed, I would recommend bringing a 170, 172, 175 and 178 as well as a 48 pilot (assuming you are using the YZ needle).

I am YZ timed and run a 172 main, 48 pilot, and YZ needle on the 4th clip. I run this from 6500 to 13,000 feet.

Where are you planning on riding? I assume it will be in the high country. Make sure you bring clothes for both warm and cold weather. Even on a ride I would take a coat of some sort as this is the season of everyday afternoon storms. And they roll in fast in the mountains.

Should have mentioned that I am running WR timing. Will be in the Divide area, don't know how high I will be going. Thanks for the help....Tim

Hi guys.

The Divide are is one of our favorite spots, Woodland Park. It isn't too awful high.

If you are not going much higher than that area, you will probably get by with stock needle position (3rd position) and stock pilot (45). I assume you are running with no baffle or with an aftermarket pipe. You could try a 172 main.

I'm not sure what pilot Jake runs but he is running WR timing with the pilot and clip as mentioned above at Woodland Park and his bike runs great.

However, if you run some of the higher stuff, like where Darin and the gang will be riding (11,000 to 13,000 feet), I'd go to the 2nd clip position for sure and about a 170 main. This main is bigger than Dougie and I used to run when we had WR timing. But since then with the help of Clark and James Dean, we now know that the main isn't as important when jetting for altitude as the rest of the system since you spend so little time in the main at full throttle.

Note: I had to also run a 42 pilot at high altitude but I am the only one that had to do so. My symptoms were plug fouling on long high altitude down hills. This can be overcome a bit with a leaner feul screw. I'd try that first before changing out the pilot for a 42.
