Thinking about buying an 88 XR 600 for daily in-city commute and weekend rallying. How is it? What should I know going into a purchase? He's asking 1,800 which seems steep. I would probably offer 1,000.

Any thoughts?

Look for '91 and later, lots of improvements after '90. $1800 sounds kinda high for an '88 unless it is absolutely pristine.

Agreed, get one newer than '91, I only paid $1500 for my '92, granted it is not mint by any stretch, but is titled and has some upgrades.
