There's a local shop that has a 2005 YZ450F that has never left the showroom floor for sale for $4999. Is that as good of a deal as it seems?

NO! You should be able to pick up a new '06 for $5000 to $5,200 and there is a world of difference between those two bikes.

Plus '05's are buckets of crap compared to their alloy framed brothers.

You can buy an '07 for $5,300-ish. (Seems too good to be true.)

Thats exactly why they are "still" trying to sell an 05. If their pricing was decent it wouldn't even be on the floor.

I like mine, too, but first chance I get, it's getting swapped out for another '06.

Why? Does the alum. frame make you ride faster or is it the different rear shock or the clamps?

05's feel like a sherman tank compared to the 07's. Fat and Slow.

I never rode an 06 so no clue on the difference there.

It's the geometry of the frame, new suspension, new motor......

There aren't many parts in common between the 05 and the 06.

I do not agree with you....the 03-05 was not slow. It was however heavier and weight was carried higher than 06-08.

The bottomline is this bike listed here is way too much $$$ make a offer of 3500-4000max....
