Thumper Racing was bought out by Gary Hazel the general manager's last year. Before the turnover it seems there was a large outstanding balance with the site developer that couldn't be worked out??? Either way, they hope to have one up soon.

I have to believe they are SUPER busy these days. With the increadible surge in Thumper interest, they're probably working day and night to engineer improved parts. "Good, You guys build us some new toys"

Call them direct at 800-259-5186.

I called them today about the bar risers and they were more than ready to help me out over the phone.

My problem is, Im running a YZ Applied TC, that is offset forward and 10mm tall. If I put this on, am I going to need new control cables? If so, then I am just going to forget the whole thing. I already bought extra sets of both and they would all be useless then.

I'm glad to learn this. I've been looking for a website or phone number for awhile. They are definately busy. Was told through Cycle Gear that their rad gaurds are at least a month back ordered. Decided to go with Devol. They are almost identical in design although the TR is supposed to be thicker and stronger.

Milkman,

I may have a set of cables for you. I'd have to verify the fit, but they are Motion Pro 3" over. I've got a easy-adjust Clutch and both Throttle Cables. They are real high quality and just sitting in a box at the moment. I don't have a Compression, though.

John,

Bryan and his old radiator might disagree with your decision to substitute the Devols... Just a tip. My ride has done some serious tumbling (without me on it) lately, damaged the shrouds, bashed my Thumper Guards, but the radiators are still solid.

Milkman,

I'm running the Applied TC, Thumper +1" bar mounts & ProTaper Desert Hi bars. It's a great set-up. I'm running the stock throttle/clutch/comp release cables. If any were to break I'd get a longer cable. The 1.5" bar risers will require the longer cables.

Jake - if Milkman doesn't want the cable I do.

I have the Devol guards. I ordered them and had doubts that they were as strong and beefy as the Thumper guards. I called to cancel my order but the lady promised me they were identical. So I kept the order.

Horsecrap! Kerry T and, I believe, Bryan both have the Thumper and they are way beefier and stronger.

That said, I will say I have not bent my radiator since I installed them. Plus I believe they fit a little better than the Thumper one. The bike has been down plenty, a few times at high speed. And they still are holding.

However, I have recently noticed they are stating to bend out of shape. My radiator was bent and dented before I put them on (not enough to replace or fix though). And the guards are bending to the shape of the radiator. So yes, they are a little weeker than the TRs.

I have no doubt you know what you are talking about brian with the cables being to short for the 1.5 risers. But I would still like to order the risers and just make sure the stock cables dont fit for myself before ordering more cables than I presently have.

Although, I would like to have the cables Jake, I dont expect you to hold onto them for me untill Im sure. So if Brian wants them thats cool with me. If not then I will check back with you later. Thanks guys!

Thanks Todd for the info. Im running CR HI Pro-Tapers. I wouldnt think there would be a huge difference in the stock bend and the CR bend.

Give me a week and I will let you know!

How tall are all you guys???

Im 6'6" and as you could imagine I have a hard time staning up on my bike for any length of time. I have a buddy that own a KTM with the risers and it makes standing soooooo much easier.

I just find it intresting that so many of us are giants and love dirt bikes.

Milkman,

I have run a set of the Thumper 1.5 inch bar risers with my stock cables. The only thing I had to do was relocate the decompression lever to the bottom side of the handlebar. Worked fine after that. Those were on the stock handlebars. I now run Renthals CR Hi bend and have not tried the risers with those bars.

Milkman,

I'm 6'4"/250#. There are several others that post to this site that make me look short - yourself included.

As I posted earlier, I'm running the Applied triple clamp, Thumper +1" bar risers & Protaper Desert Hi bend bars. This set up is very comfortable while standing - I rode about 300 miles one weekend in Mexico and my lower back held up very well. My butt was a different story. I will be installing the Guts tall/soft foam on my bike - I really need to open up the seated position. Like Jake, I can reach the ground from anywhere/anytime.

I believe the Desert Hi's are the tallest bar available - they have quite a bit of sweep to them so I may try my set of CR Hi's or even buy the Button or Henry bend Protapers.

I run a set of Applied +10mm/3mm offset mounts on my KX500 and after riding with the Thumper +1" risers there is no way I can go back to that set up - just not tall enough. I feel like I'm going over the bars.

Im really glad to hear you say that Brian. I have constantly felt cramped in the standing position and sitting down for a entire enduro dosent make life easy.

I also have the tall Devol/Gutts foam and aside from this last little setup I think I will finally have the bike where I want it. Hell, it only took me almost 2 years to get it there. Not bad.... ?

I'm 6'6" - 245# and rising... I'm running the 1.5" risers with Jimmy Button Renthals and don't need the cables. By turning the throttle over (cables on the bottom) and moving the compression closer to the center, all is well. The throttle assemby has a small drain hole that now points skyward. If you are in an environment that get real wet this might not work for you.

I'll check those cables today. I've got some repair work to do out in the garage. I'll add a thread tommorrow with details.

Just as a clarification on my set-up.

I run the throttle tube w/cables on top - may try Jakes trick of turning the cables over. I also run a Works Connection clutch perch w/intergral compression release lever - kinda like the XR650R. I'm dual sported and needed the extra bar space - just couldn't move the compression release lever inboard.

My problem is I dont really have any room inward to move stuff in. I cut the bars down to 28.5 to 29 in. (It gets pretty tight out here in some places)

But turning the cables over sounds like a good idea. If that works out, I might just silacone the little drain hole and drill one on the top side. (which will become the bottom side)

Im not sure though if I can move the compression in because my bars are pro-tapers and right now its sitting right at the taper. ?
