loud exhaust

Recommended Posts

I have a 99 WR400 and have installed a new headpipe and exhaust from 2000 YZ426. I noticed good power increase from stock system but think the bike is just a little loud. Does anyone have an idea how the White Bros E Series S bend would compare relative to power/noise output. I will probably sell the 426 system and get a replacement with less noise since I have the baja design kit and get on public roads occasionally... 99WR, 1 size larger on pilot and main, snorkel removed and 2 1/8 out on air screw. Any advice is appreciated.

ALL PERFORMANCE PIPES ARE LOUD INCLUDING THE WB E SERIES. MODIFY YOUR STANDARD PIPE FOR GENRAL RIDING AND SLIP ON THE YZ FOR RACING. EVEN IF YOU WEAR EAR PLUGS THE LOUD PIPE WILL HAMMER YOUR BODY AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS. ALSO I DO NOT BELEVE THAT TAPERED PIPES MAKE AANY MORE POWER THEN ANYTHING ELSE. DO SUPER BIKES USE TAPER PIPES?... NO. THE STAINTUNE PIPE IS THE ONLY ONE TO MAKE MORE POWER AND NOT BE OVER 94db,THAT I KNOW OF(MADE IN AUSTRALIA). HOPE THIS HELPS, ALSO GO BACK A FEW FORUM PAGES AND PIPE HAVE BEEN TALKED ABOUT ALOT, NOTE DIFFERANT COUNTRYS HAVE DIFFERANTE STANDARD PIPES.

I have the S bend for my 98WR. It tests at 107 decibles with the stock head pipe and 12 disks. I have put in the quiet core and it reads 103 db's with 12 disks. In order to get it quieter you will have to take disks out. I am replacing this system with the Big Gun system (SDS) witht the super quiet core to get my levels into the low 90's.

Actually there is a very good road/race system with tapered header....

it is the Acrapovic (formerly skorpion), which is one of the most highly regarded systems on the market.

Although me and a friend of mine had CBR900RR fireblades of the same year and his had the same power gain with the said system as mine with a stock header and a Yoshimura race can.

Anyway, the point is .....there are tapered headers around in other guises and they wouldnt be there for nothing. It all depends what you want from a system.
