Tires for So. Cal.

Can anyone tell me from experience what is the hot set-up for a front and rear tire for riding hardpack, loose round rock (1"-4"), and some sand washes? I'd like something that has a good balance between traction and wear, traction being more important however. I'm currently running the stock dunlops that came on my 99 WR. ?

I am currently running a Dunlop D606 on back and a K139 on front. These are both DOT rated and are awesome from a wear standpoint. They work well in the conditions you mentioned, but I suspect you could do better in the grip dept. with a non DOT tire.
