Removing Front Sprocket

Recommended Posts

You'd better have an impact sockect/ wrench to get it off though.

yep cause trying to hold that rear tire from spinning totally bites.....:foul:

You can however remove it with a very heavy person sitting on the bike with the rear brake on while you wrench :prof:

A sturdy 1 x 3 laying across the swing arm through the spokes works real well, too, assuming you haven't removed the chain already.

at last a better way than my old fashion stick the long handled screwdriver in the front sprocket under the cases method....:foul:

Grey no problems bending spokes? 1 x 3 all the way up to the rim, I assume?

1) Put in gear before engaging brake.

2) Remember what a pain-in-the-azz it was to take off and put some assembley lube on the spline, sprocket, threads and nut before reinstalling. You don't have to worry about the nut coming off because it has a bent-over retaining clip/washer thingey. I also like to use a wire brush to clean the whole area before installing the new sprocket.
