protein builds muscle. when you work out it helps muscle tissue recover and grow

Yep, it's a protein supplement. It's very hard to get the required amount of protein a day with food. If you're lifting hard you should at a minimum take in one gram of protein per pound of body weight. (145 lb guy should eat 145 grams protein a day, preferably more).
There's a lot of forums out there on fitness. search and read up! Diet is the most important thing when it comes to gaining size.

Its one sourceof protein. They also sell protein shakes from egg or soy. Whey is better source of protein than the other two i mentioned.
Protein intake doesnt make you bigger/stronger if you don excercise accordingly.

Yep whey protein is basicly the ultimate pre and post work out supplement. As I understand it, the wehy sinks into your stomach lining quicker than any other protein so recovery time is minimum.
You will gain weight reall quick if your going to mix it with vitamin d-milk.
gain weight you need your body weight in grams of protein time 1.5
So if you weigh 150, you would need 225 grams of protein.
If your looking to get cut and maintain your current weight you need you body weight in grams of protein times 1
so if you weigh 150 you should take in 150 grams of protein.

Be careful with these protein supplements, they are fine if you are taking them and exercising accordingly. My buddy uses protein supplements and lifts weights day in and day out, if you dont lift while taking this stuff its doing you no good. To much protein is hard on your kidneys though, if you use this just try not to ingest to much protein from other sources.

For everything that is out there Whey is probably the best and most simple form of supplements simply because it doesnt have all the extra crap they add to products like creatine which just basically gives you water weight and amounts to jack. So if your looking to be gaining muscle mass then yes Whey is the best way to go because there are no short cuts.

I take whey protien as a supplment. I lift and do cardio regularly. It really doesnt taste that good (at least the one i got). I try and eat 5 smaller meals per day. I dont have a hard core diet, just no snacks, and try and eat good carbs. I feel that i still need some fat intake, and ill get that from milk, peanut butter, etc. Just my own outlook on the whole thing.

Just remember a normal human body can only assimilate ~32g of protien in one sitting, so some of these 60g protien shakes are pointless,,,

You will want to take some Whey protein before you workout and then again immediately afterwards with some simple carbs (like an apple or bananna) the carbs will aid in the delivery of the protein to your muscles.
You want to take a Casein protein in the evening before bed to feed your muscles while you sleep.
Whey protein digests quickly, thats why you want it pre and post workout when you need it fast to repair the damage you did working out.
Casein digests slowly and will last to feed your muscles while you fast (sleep) Cottage cheese is an excellent source of Casein, a cup of low or non fat cottage cheese before bed is what most of the pro bodybuilders eat before bed, if you can handle the taste...

i just bought a huge tub of whey protein today to try up my protein intake. i lift weights and do cardio 6 out of 7 days a week so i feel it will help me along. everybody says its so good, i just wanted to see for myself. i made a smoothie and put one scoop in(17g of protein) and it tasted ok, tomorrow i'll try it with a big glass of milk.
