compression check on a wr 450 04

Do you need to disconnect the compression release or anything like that to do this job? Thanks.

Compression tests are fairly meaningless with auto decompression, and the only way to disable it is to remove the cam cover and wedge something under the flyweight. Then, you'll be faced with trying to kick the thing through with no compression release, and with no specs as to what it should run up.

The way to test compression is with a leak down tester. It's many times more accurate a picture of the condition of the top end.
