I will be 22 soon and I have been a natural body builder for 2 years now and physicaly active since I started walking. In the past year I have started to get striking, cramping chest pains near my heart. And sometimes (mostly first in the morning) I can reach forward with my right hand and feel a very hot, very striking pain go from my shoulder blade over my shoulder and into my pec on the right side. What could this be. I've tried Childrens Asprine and others to try and help with this but it seems to happen no matter what.

Fact's. Im 5'10 175lbs with %13 body fat. My natural waight is 140lbs. Diabeties and heart disease run in my family. I eat 6 meals a day and do not eat candy, drink soda, use alchahol or tobacco. I eat tons of veggies and meat but im not a big fruit fan. I am VERY busy all the time. I get very little sleep every night and always have since I was a baby. On a usual day Im on the move for 18 hours. I also have a big problem with stress. Because I keep myself busy all the time I really get strained and stressed. Mix that with the stress of life, business and marriage, Im stressed 364 days a year. I think this is my problem. But Im a little worried. Any idea's?

If your pain is related to movement of your arm it is probably not heart or lung related pain but rather related to your chest wall or musculoskeletal system especially if the pain is on your right side and you are right handed. Go see your doctor.

I am left handed. The chest pain happens at all times of the day. Sometimes a few times a week sometimes not for a month and it usaully accurres (but not always) when I am taking a breath it just scares me that it feels like it's my heart or right over my heart. My mom is a Nurse Practisioner (sp?) and in talking to her she doesn't seem to worried about it. As for the arm pain it seems to be muscular pain when I first wake up. I've been lifting heavy for years and body building for 2 so Im a little tight and slow in the morning and this is when it accures. It doesn't go down my arm or sides just from the middle of my shoulder blade over my shoulder and into the middle of my pec(right side) I have tendinitas in my shoulders would this cause it?. Usually if Im bending forward and reaching out at the same time like reaching for a my tooth brush or my shoes.

Sounds muscular. I'd still go see a doctor because of your family history.

Listen to the Doc's. However I had what sounds liket the exact same problem. I would get this shooting pain thru my pec, shoulder and arm ocassionally but it would go away after a little rest, then one day I woke up in excruciating pain. Couldn't breathe or move my left arm without severe pain. Went to the ER, because my PCP wasn't open yet, and they did the usually heart tests and those were negative so I had to wait in the lobby for four hours writhing in pain. Man was I ticked off when all they did was give me an injection of Ibuprophen. It was just a muscularskelatal issue, I guess where the pec interacts with the chest wall was all inflamed. They just told me to take 3 Advils twice a day if it bothers me again. As soon as they injected me, the pain almost totally went away, it was pretty amazing to go from excruciating pain to normal in 30 seconds. I think my issue was caused by the way I sleep.
Hope this helps.

You could also have a rib out of alignment. Let me tell you, that sucks when that happens.

I'll go to the doc first, if they can't find anything wrong with you, then look into a chiropractor.

I already go the the chyropractore (sp) for a work related neck injury from abour 3 years ago and I have noticed the shoulder/pec pain accures mostly when I have been recently. This is why I assumed it was musculare. Maybe an overload of amino acids exiting the tight muscle and moving through my body. It never hurts very long. My neck issue does effect the linement of my spine so it could also effect for ribs I'd Imagine. I'll talk to the bone cracker next time I see him.

It might be a pinched nerve from your neck problem. I have had a similar thing and went and had the tests, heart came back fine. The doctor stated it was pinched nerves from the three bad disks in my neck. PT and home traction have stabilized it for the last 4 years.

Good luck.

I thought the deal with my shoulder and pec might be a pinched nerve. I have one in my knee one's but it didn't feel anything like this. Im mostly worried about the chest deal though, not the arm. Im going to se the Chyro Monday and I'll talk to him, maybe call the Doc after that.
