I have read some stuff in here about the differing seat/tanks on the yz400 and the wr400, but on my '00 model the seat looks roughly the same as the yz.

Is there any difference?...
and if there is, is it worth changing?

Some things can be confusing with people from all over the world posting to the forum. The US 00 WR has the same seat/tank as the 99 model, but in Australia the 00 WR has the same seat/tank that the YZ's have.

Yes, in the US, the 98-00 WR uses the same big tank (3.2 gal)

I bolted up a '99 YZ tank (thanks, Darin House) and it fit perfectly-just needed longer bolts for the shrouds.

I was a little sceptical this would work well, but I am a believer after only 1 ride. Much better control, especially turning and hill climbing. Also my tomotoes aren't getting squished anymore.
