00' Throttle Stop

Recommended Posts

Has any one cut down the stop on a US 2000 WR and if so how much to cut and what is the original length and the desired finished length. I am pretty sure I need mine cut as my throttle only turns about a quarter or so, and my friend smoked me on my xr600, last time he rides my 600, he'll have to learn to hold his own on the 85 xr350. Note I have read the instructions for the 98-99 models but want to make sure of the procedure as Dirt Rider May 2000 says to grind 16mm off the stop but doesnt say what length for the final product.

Ok, don't quote me, but I believe the total length should be 1.05" (26.67mm) for the '00. I cut mine down to a hair under this amount and don't notice anything strange at WFO.

See the archives for the discussion or just make it easy and order the YZ426 stop.

The 98-99 lenghts are invalid for the '00

I removed my throttle stop completely on my 2000 wr and have had no problems

Lets put it this way. The throttle stop is around half the size after you cut it down. And that's about how much it limits your throttle in stock form! The throttle turns much further!!!!

I couldn't get at mine in place so I had to rotate the carb. I couldn't get the stupid rear intake loose so I took the subframe off and rotated the carb-airbox and all. Yeah, it sounds like a lot of work but I had to up the spring preload anyway and thats the only way I could get at the shock.

Do any of you get the feeling that the people that designed this bike don't work on their own bikes?
