I think Im insane..or am I?

Recommended Posts

Ok heres the deal...

Last night about 2 a.m. I couldnt sleep. I got up and turned on the t.v. Nothing to watch but Mr. LaLane and the Bun-Ercizer (or someting like that) Anyways I went out to the garage and noticed I havent done any detailing to my bike recently. I have done all the necessary maintenance since my last race but I hadnt armor all'd the tires on it yet. So without hesitation I started polishing the plastic and buffing the pipe.

Then I got to thinking, How many normal people are up at 2 a.m. detaling their bike. Am I the only one?

I come to you guys because I feel like this might be the only place I can get support.

Have I lost it? Or are there more of you out there?

What your suffering from is a psycological condition known as obssessive bike syndrom. It stems from an extreem love of all things motorcycle. Symptoms usually arrise from a lack of riding and can be cured by riding at least 10 hours in the next week. If that fails, take two asprin and detail your bike early in the morning. ?

Hi, I'm Chris and I'm a bike-a-holic

(Everybody help out here)

HI CHRIS!!!!!!!!!;D

Hang in there Brother, we feel your pain ?

The good news is, I drug my wife to the MX Races on Monday, and there was a perfect 1980 Yamaha enduro for sale for $500.... Wife says to me "I wonder if they'd take a check?"

I think she's on her way.....

Do it all the time, thats why men have garages, to put the toys in, I'm thinking of

putting a coffee maker and t.v. next to the fridge and recliner, that way when I'm done

cleaning or whatever, I can finally fall asleep while stareing. It's really bad the first week after you buy a new motorcycle or

snowmobile or lawn tractor etc.

When my wife walks into the house, and I am scrambling off the computer to rush downstairs, she asks if I am on "That WR websight?" Of course she has that disgusted look on her face. As my bike is in pieces AGAIN in the basement, all I have is this websight and my Motocross Madness game to occupy the time I should be riding.

For the first time this year, I had my bike out. In 10 minutes, I had a metal to metal sound and the bike stalled on me. I tore off the cylinder on Sunday (same day) and found some severe scuff marks on the intake and exhaust side of my cylinder. I ingested something, somhow. It needs to be re-coated, but I'll live w/ some blow-by until NEXT winter when I'll do an entire top end w/ a cylinder re-coat. My top end gaskets are on the way from Yamaha of Troy. I could find NO ONE that had them in stock!!! ?

You think you've got it bad? I got my brand spanking new WR about 3 weeks ago. This is only the 2nd "new" bike I have ever owned. I have found that I spend more time in the garage admiring it, than I do riding it!!! Tell me that's not sick!

No that's not sick. I got mine in mid March last year and couldn't ride it for a couple of weeks because the snows had not sufficiently melted yet. I was always in the garage, polishing it, putting new stuff on it and drinking beers over it with my admiring neighbors. I had my wife take dozens of pictures of me just sitting on it. No you're not sick at all.

Now if you would have told us that you spend your nights making love to it, then I'd say you might have a slight problem ?

Sick no, but a lot of us might be a little infected. I can’t tell you how many billable hours I have spent reading how to re-jet my bike! This damn board and all you close but electronic friends are taking ALL of my free time! If I’m still reading this board when I could be riding – Just shoot me!

It’s 11:30pm, my girlfriend went to bed alone again, and I’m reading about motorcycles. I gotta go with the Milkman. I think I’m coming down with something… And it’s more expensive than a cold.

Could you imagine all of us getting together for a riding weekend? We'd end up working on the bikes and talking about them - 24hrs straight!

God, I need summer!

When my mate and I go camping for a few days we always position our bikes near the camp fire light ( not too close) in the prime position so we can kick back and have a few beers and reflect on the days ride. The non riders seem to get pissed off at us when there is no more room left around the fire. Personally, I dunno why my wife complains about it.

Is this Penthouse Forumn? Must be on the wrong page. Got to admit to sitting on the bike when its in my garage and twisting the throttle just so it knows its not lonely. My 11 year does the same on his XR 100. Just like good old dad

Bryan thats hystrical that you take "sneak peaks" every once in a while. I too drive around with mine in the back of the truck. Just to show it off a little. (not that anyone but a pure moto-head could even appreciate such a fine ride)

My bike is over a year old now (got Feb. 99) and all my buds think it still looks like it rolled off the showroom floor!

I guess taking off the airboot, putting armour all on it, and polishing behind the frame is paying off.

Some people I know that have 1 year old dirt bikes....LOOK LIKE THEIR ONE YEAR OLD!! HA

I dont know how they live with themselves...

I to am addicted to everything that has to do with dirt biking. Walking by the garage door I sometimes look in and go out and see if everything is okay(it always is).

My girlfriend just doesn't understand why every saturday me and my riding pals come over and strip down all of our bikes and clean them for 6 hours. My bike also looks brand new and I've had it for over a year (Bought in Mar. '99).

Now that we can ride here in Nevada, we have to spend Sundays Cleaning(and occasionally fixing), but now we need 7 hours for it. Happy riding! =)

Color me obsessed. When I'm not riding or wrenching bikes, I'm reading about them. I used to read DirtBike and MotocrossAction every month as a teenager (where was the web then???? I missed out!)

My XR got thrashed all the time back then but looked like new when I sold it 3 or 4 years later!

I have purchased two bikes in 7 months. I just installed a PowerCommander computer and full exhaust on the VFR800 myself. I haven't even gotten the WR home yet and I'm offering tips to other owners (hey! I'm a gearhead!), I had to have a special hitch custom made for my car to hold the bike carrier for it (which is customized as well), and I'm already looking at aftermarket pipes, flywheel weights, etc.

NOW THAT IS INSANE!

How can you guys look in the mirror with your showroom looking 1 year old bikes.

Mine is one year old last month and I swear it aged in dog years. Put some scratches and dents on those things will you.

I remember shedding tears of joy when I put the first scratch on my WR. I was so proud. One tough little guy it was. It got right back up and said to me is that all you got punk.

So I said alright, you want some of this? And then over the past year proceeded to punish it like it was a red headed step child.

The whole time it just smiled and shook it's head and laughed at me.

It looks old and it likes it that way.

Of course I did treat it to some new plastic and graphics this year to show it my appreciation ?
