tail light wires

Does anyone know what the third wire is for that runs from the tail light(yellow). The two wires plug together under the seat and the third one just dangles there.????The light works.

I think its for your cigarette lighter...

I think it could be the number plate light that that the Aus. models come with.

I have a 00 wr and on mine I traced it to the tail light its a brake light wire

It is the wire for the Brake light.

i got a hydraulic brake light switch from
Baja Designs, and now my question is answered. Thanks, guys.
PS I don't smoke - so I didn't need the cigarette lighter.....
