Different size pilot jets

Maybe a really dumb question but...

I bought a size 42 pilot jet the other day for some high altitude tuning. When I removed the existing pilot (45), I realized they are totally different sizes. The 42 has got to be twice as long as the 45 and seems narrower as well.

This is the first time playing with jets and I want to make sure this is right..

Sounds like you might have gotten a pilot for a XR. The pilot for the WR (&KLX) is a short stubby little thing. I don't remember the PN's but the Thumper Racing catalog has good pics/descriptions.
