I'm thinking of getting a white brothers can, but am confused at the different types such as e series, pro meg, s bend etc...

what is the best one for bottom to mid range power increases but not too loud?

Darren, I don't think any of the WB pipes are quiet. The promeg version has a megaphone inlet rather than a straight tube inlet as on the s-bend model. The promeg is more of a top-end pipe than the s model. Dyno test results on a 426 show the promeg ahead of stock in the middle however; not as far ahead as the s bend. Even the s bend was ahead on top. Go figure. See the July 2000 pipeshoot out at www.dirtbikemagazine.com. Good Luck!

Remember though that the 426 and the 400 are totally different animals!

You can only base and compare results on the same cc bike.

426 doesn't seem to react as greatly to a pipe as the 400s.

But isn’t the stock pipe different between them? This may be a bigger reason why the 400 is perked up more by an aftemarket. I thought 426 had a tapered header but 400 did not. It would be interesting to compare a 426 pipe on a 400 to the stock 400 pipe.

he has developed his own piece of pipe to fit. reckons it really works.

The 400 and 426 stock pipes are different.

A 426 pipe on a 400 is basically like putting an after market pipe on the 400.
