I'm buying a bike to get back into riding and I have a chance to get a really good deal on a left over YZ450 '04 or a '05 at a $100 difference one from the other. Even though is just $100, since I have a limited budget & also be shipping it, I thought I could use whatever savings to offset some of the cost for the shipping provided the two models had minor differences between them. What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance

Spend the extra $100 and and get the 2005. I know the 2005 has better suspension and there are probably some other small changes. Also think about resale down the road, the 2005 will be worth more money, probably not a whole bunch but i bet at least a few hundred bucks. The aluminum frame 2006 killed the resale of all the steel framed yamahas

Never59 is correct about the resale thing. Took a while to sell my '04 so I could get my '06. I would also get the '05 if I were you, newer bike, better resale later.

The front forks on the '05, although they need some minor mods to work really as well as they should, are easily worth the $100 difference.

Some feel that the hit of the '04 was softened too much, but that can be corrected by going to a Vortex ignition. You might like it just as it is, too.

What kind of deal are you getting on the 05? I just bought a 05 left orver for 4000 OTD. They still have a 04 left.
