I was just lookin' on the Kawasaki website and for 08' there is no 250 or 125 2-strokes. When will this happen for the rest of the companies? Yamaha is still making them for 08' but, what about Honda and Suzuki?:excuseme:

If you're looking for 2 strokes just come to Canada cause we still get them here (not sure why as it's a smaller market). I just sat on a brand new KX125 and 250 for shiggles a couple weeks ago. RacerX Canada still has adds from local dealers with all the 2 strokes as well.

they all stopped R&D on them a while ago anyway, not sure why anyone would want one, except for the yamaha and KTM's of course

Why would anyone want one???!?

Maybe because we don't all like spending upwards of $800 to rebuild our topends twice a year. And don't say "Oh well on 2-strokes you need to replace the top end 4 or 5 times a year so it evens out" because that's the biggest load of BS ever. I race my KX250 and I never do top ends more than twice a year, and even then, the pistons are still in spec.

Maybe because thus far, 2-strokes are the dominant force in woods riding.

Maybe because I don't want to go out and buy a used bike only to have it be a ticking time bomb that could drop a valve at any time.

OR! Maybe some people just like 2-strokes better, like myself. Yes, I've swung a leg over CRF250R's and KX250F's and YZ250F's and RMZ450's and all those, and even have a good amount of seat time on some, but plain and simple, I just like my reliable ol' 1999 KX250 smoker better.

/rant off

I don't know anyone who has done even 1 top end a year on a 450. Thats just crazy. I used to get a year on a wiseco in my cr250. probably like 50 hrs. On my 06 450 I havent even had to adjust the valves yet. Checked em twice. I have almost 60 hrs on it.

With the amount of people going back to 2-stroke, the manufacturers might have to change thier stance. Of course, they'll continue to make money on the sales and maintenance on the 4-strokes.

For woods riding there is nothing more superior than a 2-Stroke.

1)Lighter
2)Will not shut off when overheating
3)Cheap Maintenance

Four Strokes are better for certain applications (Street Legal) and MX

Kawi discontinued their KX 250 b/c they just aren't selling. There is a dealer in the bay area that still has a left over '04 for crying out loud.
FWIW Yamaha and KTM can't seem to keep their 2 smokers in stock...

I've been riding 4-strokes since 2000. I've yet to have a valve out of spec, or had to replace a clutch, let alone a top end. The last 2-stroke I had ate up 4 bottom ends in one season. So my last year on a 2-stroke cost me right at $2,000 in motor parts, the last 7 years on 4-strokes hasn't cost me a dime for motor parts.

my 2-strokes and my 4-strokes are all pretty reliable, but maybe you need to ride a little more. the valves even go out on my streetbike after 8-10,000 miles. 7 years of riding for me is 35,000 miles. i don't think any 4-stroke dirtbike will do that without some parts.

but anyway, i like technical riding, and i think 2-strokes are way better and easier for that kinda stuff. so does david knight. if you don't that's ok. we'll help u up the tough sections, or else point out the easy way back. lol.

anyway, all the mfrs that make decent 2-strokes are still making them. ktm, suzuki, yamaha, and some othe euros.
