I was just watching my news and they where talking about how they are using pumps with 85% etheynol and blah blah....
Than they panned over to the pump and they all had one pump that said Sunoco 110 Race Gas...? Since when do they have this at pumps? I have never seen this before. Have you guys?

Yes it is called E85. It is an alternative fuel for newer vehicles which are designed to run on E85. Many people who can like to run it because of the savings in price. Around here it is up to 80cents cheaper a gallon.

But you must have a car which is designed to run on E85. Also I have learned fuel economy drops off so the savings might not be as good as one would like to believe.

I have seen race gas being pumped only once at a gas station when I was out of town. I know Cheverolet makes FFV (Flexible Fuel Vehicles) that take E 85 (Ethanol) as well as Nissian. But about the race gas, I do not see any stations around here that pump it. Does anyone have a website that shows which gas stations have/pump 110 race fuel? Or where to get 110 race fuel besides the dealership?

I'm sure there is one but I wouldn't know where.

I almost bought an '07 Siverado 'Classic' that would have run on E85... but I only know of one station near me that has it, usually around 50-75 cents less than the going rate per gallon for regular 87 octane.

There is a station that has 110 octane race gas near me as well, but that is the only station I can think of that has it. It's usually a pump near the back next to the kerosene I find.

They sell a couple of brands of 110 leaded at some stations near my house. It is not legal for street use. I run Citgo 110 in my bike.

Your octane ratings are different that what we use here in the States. I think 100 would correspond to our 92-93 "Premium" which is the highest normally. When talking about octane, you also have to look where you are. In high elevations (Colorado etc.) the highest pump gas is 89 to 90, which would be for the same applications as 93 at sea level. Keep that in mind with talks like this: if you are in Europe/Australia the octane ratings use a different scale, and even different places in the US have different grades at the pumps.

I know of one Sunoco station in Jacksonville that sells race gas. you can find it, but not many places would carry it.

Here's Sunoco's site for finding dealers that sell 100 octane (apparently street legal): http://www.sunocoinc...GT100Locations/

There are 2 stations that have 110 race fuel at the pump around here. It costs $4/gallon now; which isn't too bad compared to $3.50/gallon for 91 octane at one of the stations.

Yeah your right, 100 RON is the highest we can get at the pump, so thats about 92 MON. We consider (in RON) 91 Regular, 95 Premium unleaded, 98 super unleaded and Shell call their 100 octane 'V-Power'. Most performance engines that run on premium take at least 95 RON, so thats 87 where you guys are.

They have 110 at a station 50 miles from me. I used it once in my WR426 and, although it smelled great, the bike ran like crap. I ended up draining the tank off in a field and replenishing it with good old 91 octane. I've been told by several "experts" since, that you should use the lowest octain that the bike runs without pre-detonation in order to get the best "bang" for the buck. Maybe if my bike had 13.5:1 or 14.5:1 compression, the 110 octane would have been required, but at 12:1 (same as my street bike), 91 or 92 octane seems to be where it was happiest.

To find out who sells the 110 (aka CAM2 110) racing gas at the pump:

1) Go to the following page to find the distributor for your state:

http://www.sunocoinc...DistributorMap/

2) Contact the distributor for the stations that sell the stuff.

I only run the Sunoco/CAM2 stuff when the local guys are out of the VP110
for my two-strokes. I'm starting to wean my 4-stroke off the U4 as well. Not
because of the cost, but because U4.2 is not prevalent yet, and frankly dealing
with U4 is a pain in the butt I'd rather not deal with any more.
