new to the forum, just got a 1992 XR600R

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I just bought a 1992 XR600R, it was resonably priced, it's inspected and street legal with proper title. It has brake lights and a headlight, it runs very strong, starts second kick, has an upgraded carb, a higher speed sprocket, and a supertrap already installed. The only 2 issues that I can see are that at low RPMs, say 40 MPH or so, the bike seems to miss just slightly, but when you give it gas it eats every bit of it, this issue is only noticeable at low street speeds. Any ideas? My guess is trash in the carb or a minor carb adjustment.

Second there is a very small ammount of oil around the kick starter hole. I have purchased the gasket for it and have heard that it can be replaced from the out side is this true? How difficult is this?

-thanks

Welcome to the group!

Sounds like a jet issue. Not too familiar w/ aftermarket carbs but that is where I would start.

The kickstarter seal is done from the out side. I just use a drywall screw to thread into the seal and pull it out. Lube the new one and push it in with a socket.

Good Luck!

That is great to know, thanks. It is a Mikuni Carb. I hear they are pretty good, is that true?
