Hey guys! I have been loving my 290f, but on some tracks it just cant keep up to the 450's. So tonight I pick up a new 06 Yellow yz450f for $5000 plus tax, so about $5300 OTD. I know I could of got a nice used one for $4500 or so, but who doesnt like new?

Anyways I am just talking cause I am excited that now I will be posting in the 450 forum also! I cant wait to ride it tonight!!! Also Looking forward to your guys insight on setting it up!

WOOHOO!!

Handlebars are a little too low to

Yeah I am gonna throw cr hi bend protapers on. I plan on setting it up like my 06 290.

I have a wierd setup on it- shaved seat 3/4'' and cr hi bars. I am only 5'7'' and that setup keeps me forward and allows me to start 2 feet down. Pretty soon I will make some footpeg brackets to raise my pegs, so i can get farther back in whoops also.

Holy Crap this thing is FAST!!

I took her out and rode around our track last night, it is the first 450 I have ever rode, and it is UNREAL!! I consider myself a pretty good rider, but this 450 is gonna take some time before I feel ready to race it. I thought I would just jump on and be fast, but it is such a different riding style, its just wow. I mean, do you guys ever shift? This one uphill jump I used to hit in 4th on my 290 I hit at the same speed in 2nd now! And jumps that used to be hard to seat bounce, are hard to not overshoot now! The hardest part is slowing down for corners, and I think the corners are harder to set up for, but that may just be because I dont have it setup like I like yet.

Long live the 450!!

Oh yeah, the stock jetting sucks, it is way to lean, I am gonna go with what everyone on here recommended - a 45pj - this morning.

? God, I love it. ? Pretty typical first impression, but I really do enjoy seeing guys react to their first ride on a big modern 4-stroke. Very cool.

You should of been out at the track with me. I was like "Dude you gotta try this" to all my buddies. One lap was all anyone would do:excuseme:

Only thing I dont like about it is how it looks now, I must have the worst looking new bike ever. I took all the nice yellow plastic off asap and put on old stuff that was laying around, some blue here, some black there, some plates with numbers, and a bright yellow crossbar pad. Total Spode bike. But I hope that yellow anniversary plastic may add to resale in a few yrs, or decades.

I've had the opposite experience. When I let people ride mine I have to chase them on their bike to get it back. When they stop, they're usually grinning from ear to ear, or laughing like an idiot.
