I have made some calls and now I get the feeling the sales people are the typical hosers as they are portrayed  It seems I am getting different MSRP's from different dealers. What is the correct MSRP for a 2007 XR650L? I have also found some places adding the dealer set up charges where others say they don't know how they get away with it as they are included in the dealers price when they purchase the bikes I know the 2008's are around the corner so I might just wait to see what they offer but I have a feeling they will be exactly the same, color and all....Whats the best price I can expect to pay for one of these 2007's new?
Thanks,
db

.
.
I got my '07 for $5800 out the door in Oct. of 2006.

I was told I got an "ok" deal by most...

Just for reference....

Thanks for the info. I think I figured out the reason I was getting different MSRP's. At the Honda site it shows $5949 for the 2008 and $5849 for the 2007 model. I think they are the same exact bike.

I shopped around for 6 months. I ended up with an '07 XR650L from a local dealer for 5450 + tax, after some haggling. I got all the usual dealer responses, like "Honda isn't making anymore...better get one quick...we're not making any money...". The only way I was able to get that price was to get the dealers to compete with each other (and threaten to buy a DR-Z!).

Southern Honda has great prices, but for me to travel there (or do shipping), the savings got absorbed quick.

I suspect it really depends on the time of year. Here in the Northeast, this is prime time for bikes, because the weather is (finally) getting nice. It's harder to get deal. Perhaps I might have gotten a better deal really early this year when we still had snow, or waited until the end of the year and bought a leftover model, might have gotten a better deal.

Anyway, love the XR! :)

I'm really curious as to why not save a 1000 or 2 and buy a used one that has hardly been driven? Lots don't even step foot on the trails either

It would be a lot different if the model years were highly upgraded but they have been the same since 93 or something?

I have been looking quite a bit lately and these 650's are so plentiful when talking used bike market.

The red ones are easy to find, white ones are pretty tough to find a low mile one in decent shape.

I just bought a used '07 w/ 675mi. on it out of the Buffalo paper... with a full BIG GUN exhaust, IMS 4.0 tank, 2 extra tires, and Race Tech Gold Valves in the forks... for $4700.00!!!! I also got the original bill of sale from the first owner, he paid $5287.00 plus tax, so $5842.11 OTD! I am very pleased with my new bike, and I think I got a smokin deal with all the extras he threw in with it!!! :)

I already made up my mind to get a new one and probably a 2008 model but thanks for the offer. I went to the local dealer yesterday for the fun of it and they were going to hose me good

I Got My '07 In November '06 For 5100, They Also Gave Me A $100 Instore Credit Toward A Helmet So I Basically Paid 5000. In The End I Think They Were Counting On Seling Me The Service Warranty To Make The Money Back Or Something. I Swear, I Almost Got In A Fight Refusing To Buy The Warranty From The Sales Manager...this Guy Was Short Of Combative In Trying To Get Me To Buy It (the Extended Warranty).
