Hello all,

I have about 4 hours to make a decision on whether or not to pick up a 2003 KTM 450 EXC. My decision hinges on the plateability of the bike. In other words, if I can't get a plate for it, I won't buy it. I did do some searching here for info but didn't find anything conclusive.

Input?

Thanks!!

JT

If the title says off road or ORV anywhere, you wont get a plate for it in Washington.

That I understand. What I'd like to know is if the EXC's from that year were street legal or not.

Is it licensed now by the previous owner? If so you might have a chance. If not then no you cant get it licensed.

Bingo, what he said! So if it has a WA title already and mentions "not eligible for road use" dont buy it. If its already plated, you will be fine.

No, they were never street legal. Now the EXC models went away for a few year and they are back now in 07 in 450 and 525 EXC, these bikes are now 50 state emission legal. Has turn signals, nuetral light, high/low beam, horn... but a bit detuned. But thta can be "undone"

My brother just got a plate for his 2004 200exc a couple months ago, no problems. It wasn't street licensed when he bought it, but he went in and got a plate, and has since recieved his title (no VIN inspection letter like I've been reading about). Anyway, I think its still hit or miss, I've read about many people having issues plating bikes, but it can still be done (with a little luck at least).

Just have to find the right place to do it, then no problem.
