A friend and myself camped out over the weekend. Saturday we headed up to Lost lake then on to Manastash Lake. we cleared out a pretty large tree that another group tried removing, but our guess is their saw ran out of gas. Once I finished their cut, I then opened up the gap in the tree by cutting another large chunk out of it. We actually turned around there and went back to Lost lake.

On Sunday we went up 1386 from ATV30 and it was open to 1385 junction. Looking up the hill on 1385, we could see trees down, so if anyone wants to head up to the Jeep trail system via 1385, some work needs done. We went right on 1385 towards the 1207 junction and cleared several trees and made first tracks through a few snow patches. HOLY CRAP, the mosquitos were really thick on us when we stopped to clear trees. There a still a few large trees that need removed once you get past the 1207 junction... they might even be past the 1366 junction, but I can't remember for sure. Also, Just prior to a road crossing, there are two large trees, probably 20" or more in diameter. We didn't even attempt those two because my saw was just about out of gas. We continued on down until we hit the road were there's the big parking area... I think it's the 3100 road... it's the one that goes up to Qtz Mtn. At the back side of the parking lot is the 4W311 trail, so we rode it all the way back to camp.

We did our share of tree clearing with what the saw gas allowed us to do, but lots more work needs done on the upper trails on the Manastash Camp/Riders camp side of the ridge.

Yeah, the mosquitos would eat you alive if you stayed still too long. We found that out when we went yesterday. Made trail clearing kind of a pain, but oh well...

I've started carrying a can of repellent with me, but they still zero in on you when in one place more that a few minutes.
