The Tacoma Trail Cruisers are cordinating a tree cutting work party for this Sunday June 3rd. The trails are completely blocked from Rock Candy to Straddleline to Porter Creek with winter blow down trees.

Meet: Some will have breakfast at Mud bay Cafe at 08:00AM. Anyone else can meet us at the Rock Candy parking area at 09:00AM. Look for a white Chevy, step side, pick-up and a white GMC van.

Bring: chain saws, picks and shovels. The trees are down so close together we are not planning to bring bikes nor quads (though you are welcome to). Our plan is just to drive to the place where the trail is close to the road and walk in from there. Some of the fallen trees were rooted close to the trail and the now missing roots have created large holes, very narrow spots and in some cases impassable parts of the trial. That is why we need people with shovels and picks.

So far we have 3 men with chain saws and 5 teen-aged boys to throw the cut branches and roll the cut logs off the trail. If somehow we get so many that it is not effective to all work in the same area we will split up and part of the group can drive to the next road crossing and work from that point.
You can contact me, "Joe" email; purplemagna@comcast.net or phone 253-686-2986.

Russ is organizing a similar workparty for Saturday June 2nd meeting at Straddleline at 09:00AM. He will be in a White Ford F-150 4 x 4 near the front gate. Russ Henry 360-893-2425

He will be contacting us Saturday night to let us know where they left off. Then we will know how far to drive in on Sunday morning.

Thank you in advance for your help and support of our sport!

I have updated the thread Russ started with a small report and a link to some pics. I also have a couple of GPS waypoints of where we left off.
