Hi,

I'm looking for a recommendation on which campground to bring an RV into and set up camp for a few days in Tahuya.

How accessible are the twin lakes, tahuya river, camp spillman, and kamenga canyon camps? Are the trails by the camps suitable for little ones? I would be arriving on Friday are certain ones more crowded than others?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

I know kamenga is fairly wooded and good for little guys if there aren't a gaggle of kwads overrunning the place.

I've used the state campground a lot because they have showers, plenty of RV space there. Twin lakes is on my hit list this year. I've yet to use the twin lakes campground but it looks nice. I might even bring a jetski to cool off with at the end of the day;)

Twin Lakes is walk in only. Spillman is OK, and like Kamenga has the river next to it. You can also overnight at the staging area, but it's not a great place to be camping with kids.
FWIW, I have 1/2 of the Tahuya River Camp (Horse Camp) reserved during the weekdays - not weekend- of June 11-13 if anyone is interested.

You can ride or walk in, but I don't think you can bring a car or truck in at all. You have to leave it at the gate, last I heard.

The times I have been up there that gate was locked btu I thought it was opened up in the summer. I sent an email to DNR to find out for sure. I have a week long camping trip planned at Tahuya this summer and planned on camping at the Twin Lakes campground, packing everything into a camp site will suck. Kinda dumb when they have a paved loop that people could drive in but I understand how the vandals ruin things.
