What to do to my new bike?

I will be picking up a YZ450F this weekend. My question is what should I be doing to it when I get it home.

The bike is an 05 and has literally been ridden 10 times since new. It may have been sitting around for a little while but it doesn't seem to have worried the motor at all as the thing starts 1st or 2nd kick from cold.

Should I be looking at changing the oil and coolant? Is checking the valves going to be needed (I know they haven't been checked yet)? Any linkages going to need greasing?

I want to make sure that this bike is in top condition before I start putting it through it paces. Any help would be appreciated.

If i were you i would consider the guy your buying it from to be totally incompetent. Not to say that he is but i have watched guys do some really bad stuff to their bikes and makes me nervous buying a used bike and going out to ride it immediately. Definitely change the oil!! Check the coolant level and replace if you have the time, does not take long at all. Consider flushing the brake fluid, another easy quick fix. If you are really feeling adventurous i would change the fork oil. The garbage they put into the bikes from the factory is horrible. I swapped my mine after 20 rides and it was this horrible green snot with sludge in it. You will be fine to ride the forks the way it is but something to consider as well. Valves you should be ok but i would grease the linkage for sure!Make sure the spokes are tight and you should be good to go.

Are you getting a pretty good deal on it? The 05's are very outdated compared to the 2006's. The alumunim frames killed the resale of the steel frame 450's in the states. Still a great bike though!?

Change all the fluids unless the PO says he just did, and you have reason to trust him.

When doing the oil change, remove and inspect the frame screen. It's a pain, but you only have to do it once a year or so.

Re-grease the steering head, swing arm and linkage.

Change the fork oil in both the inner and outer chambers.

Clean the air filter.

Check the valve clearance.

Generally, assume you've had it for a year, and it's time to do complete annual maintenance on it.

I was looking at an 04 YZ450F to begin with as my budget was only $6000AU (about $4900US) but I found this brand new 2005 model from a guy that has only ridden it 10 times. These bikes go for around $7000AU around here so I jumped on it

I would have loved to stretch to an 06 but I definately couldn' have afforded that!
