i just finished installing the carb on my 650R, OMG what a difference. that POS had so much trouble starting cold. sometime i'd almost give up.

now, just twist the throttle two times and she's running within 2 kicks. power is so much smoother now too. just have to try and remember not to twist it so fast. front tires sure do love to climb:ride:

What did you upgrade from?

Stock carb, uncorked ? ... how much?

HRC manifold, jetting, side cover air-intake venting? Exhaust?

What gearing? Stock 14/48?

it was a stock carb, power-up kit, supertrapp muffler.

you will like the fcr 41 pumper better! on an "L". price is the only issue. ive read that the edelbrock is the "lazy mans" replacement for stock, and is not completely tuneable to get top and bottom in sync. THIS is only what ive read and is not from personal exp. i DO know that the fcr 41 is the best carb you can buy for either pig. it has eliminated the top end jetting issues i have had due to running a pod filter with a djet equipped cv carb!

You are correct the FCR is more tuneable and the edelbrock does gives up a little one way or the other ..But , with the edelbrock ..theres no need to rejet for elevations...it won't flood when dumped ...and there is not even a choke ,twist it twice ..light it up and ride ..." Lazy is good "...

I did the same upgrade, my 2000 650r had everything peaked or tweaked except the carburetor upgrade. I never had any problems starting, but at throttle roll on I had a major hesitation I just could not figure out:banghead: . The Edelbrock pumper carb unleashed the monster! It is completely amazing what this did for the bike. It truly was like riding a new bike.

I have talked to some guys that are truly afraid of the instant, almost unlimited throttle available after the upgrade. I believe I will be spending more money on tires simply because of the way the power is delivered to the ground. It is worth the cost for the upgrade. It is a simple install. I believe I'll be upgrading to an oversized wave rotor set up so I can slow her down quicker if needed.
