Removing dents in Pipe ?

I've heard that with heat and compressed air dents can be "blown out"of exhaust pipes.. has anyone done this.. and if so how is the performance increase?My dent is in the usual spot(the leading edge about the size of a silver dollar)The bike came with the dent so that is why the performance question.
