in order to help anyone with jetting i need to know certain information.this saves me from asking repeatedly for the info.having this information will let me accurately asses the set up and give the best advice im capable of.

also please remember even though i make my living tuning/motor building,im not a TT employee.i do this on a 100% volunteer basis.i also work 10-14hours a day 6 days a week in the shop during my busy season.so if it seems that it take me a while to answer please bear with me.im not ignoring you.depending on how many threads have been started between times of me checking, the list of new threads can drop off the first page.if its been more than 24hrs,go ahead and bump your own thread.

now, this is what i need to know.

1)year/make/model

2)conditions (elevation,temp,humidity if extreme,type of riding

3)modifications (pipe,air box,motor)

4)current jetting.the answer to this question is not "stock".i tune hundreds of different motorcycles.as much info as i do remember it is not physically possible to remember the stock jetting for everything.i need to know the complete stock jetting including needle code.

5)running issue that is trying to be cured.

6)does the running issue change?affected by motor temp?better or worse when hot?better or worse when cold?

also please do all testing while RIDING THE BIKE FULLY WARM!revving it in the garage or on the stand is meaningless!i cant tell you many times i spent a great deal of time helping some one only to find out they were never riding the bike. :applause: :p

one last point, please be sure the the motor is mechanically sound before trying to cure a "jetting problem" that has just started.jetting doesnt generally change if the conditions do not change.check leak down on 4 strokes and compression on 2 strokes.i hear "it only has 30 hours on it,it cant be worn out" all the time.i also hear with 4 strokes "the valves couldnt have moved already".they most certianly can be worn out and the valves can and do move.also once, valves start to move they do not stop.if you find your valve clearance at 0 or moved more than .002" you need a valve job.

finally the most common questions here relate to the pilot circuit.this how to set up the pilot circuit.when done correctly it will minimize decel pop (a slight decel pop is normal) as well as hanging idle issues (provide its not cable or idle speed related).
