ok only the 3rd ride on the 07wr450 and it had to be the district 37 nationals. after 40+ miles the bike runs fantastic BUT my god is the seat a brick!! don't want to change to a padded riding short for seat hight reasons, and don't tell me to keep my butt off the seat.. tell me who makes a gell insert for under the seat cover (shave some foam) of who makes a softer seat foam.. me and my aching butt thank you.

I have always used the GUTS Tall seats as well on all my WR's. I put the "soft" seat on my 07' and might go to the "medium" you can see pics of it on the 07' here - https://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=498975

Guts, all the way!! I bought one, and never looked back. The soft is soft, so if you spend alot of time on the seat like I do, it's the best $55 you'll ever spend. Here's a pic of my 06 WR450 with the tall/soft

The seat cover is actually a stock height Factory Effex cover that I bought on Ebay for like $12 from a MC shop in Calgary BC. FX still makes this cover, but it only comes in all black. It's $80 though.

The seat is noticeably higher, and it has definitely taken some getting used to. I'm 6'1", and if I were any shorter, I wouldn't have a tall seat 'cause I wouldn't be able to touch the ground. I could have stretched the original cover over the tall like I did with this one, but I'm not a big fan of the stock covers. It's a REAL tight fit, but I did it with a T50 stapler and a lot of patience.

Here's the newer version of my cover-

ok spoke with GUTS. they recommended the soft??!! their statement below: what are your weights on the soft where you recommend the medium?? thanks

Our hard is a little harder than the stock. Our medium is about the same as a 2007 KXF450.

Excellent… thanks... just out of curiosity does the stock “rock” hardness equal your hard? Or is your hard “harder or softer than stock? Have 2 other riders, one heavier 6’ 01” 265 lbs and one lighter 5’ 10” 200 lbs. (again old men) What would you recommend for their weights?

Will place an order today, after I check out your seat covers. Thanks again.

We recommend a soft stock height. The soft is about the same firmness as an older Honda XR250 (late 80’s).

Love the new bike BUT, the stock seat is a rock!!! On Thumper Talk the consensus is your seat foam. I just don’t know which to buy.

I compete in district 37 desert only, I am 5’-10”, 225 lbs, and like to sit whenever possible (yes I am in the senior class). I would like to stay with the stock seat height.

Your recommendation is?? thanks

I had to take off my stock seat after the first 50 miles. Monkey butt for about 3 days. That stock seat is not just uncomfortable, it's frickin painful!

I went with the GutsRacing tall soft and gripper seat cover and it couldn't be better. It's kinda like putting a La-Z-Boy in a Corvette...

Last comment. With my old stock seat, I could ride for an hour or two before my a$$ started to get sore. With the Guts soft, I frequently go for 100 mile, 6-8 hour rides with no monkey butt. Tremendous difference.

FYI - you can ask the guys at GUTS to "customize" your seat foam.

I went with the tall, medium/soft, and I like it a lot.

I have ridden some bikes with their tall, soft foam and thought it

was too soft, so the medium/soft is just right for my boney butt.

well according to what the guy said from GUTS in the e-mail, I could go with the soft stock height seat. I'm 185#s so it should work. And if it is as soft as the XR seats, I'll take it. My XR seat is the most comfortable seat I have ever rode on.
