Which flywheel for my 06?

Recommended Posts

I want to put one of the GYT-R heavier flywheels on my 06, but having a hard time deciding if I should go with the 6 oz. over or the 9 oz. over. I ride mostly woods/desert, don't spend much time on the MX track because I suck at MX. It seems most guys are going with the 9 oz. over, but just curious what people have tried and how they like it.

I put the 9 oz. on my 07 YZ450. Do mostly off-road....desert, GP racing and killer trail riding. This is probably the best bolt on item I've ever done since my Scotts stabilizer over 10 years ago! You'll be happy with the heavier one I think. No more stalling and good tractor power.

I thought about an overweight flywheel for my '06 YZ450f and ended up keeping the flywheel stock and installing a rekluse clutch. No way i'd ever go back to a manual clutch now.

I'm running 13/50 and that's good for the tighter stuff. Open desert I switch way up to 14/50.

Interesting, I went exactly opposite. Installed a Rekluse clutch on mine, did not like it at all. Pulled the thing off an sold it. Now I am going for the heavier flywheel. Different strokes.

I ride mx and currently have the z-pro rekluse on my 450, and was considering a heavier fly wheel. Believe it or not, I still run into situations where I've stalled the bike.

Anybody running the heavier flywheel along with the rekluse? I'm concerned that the heavier flywheel will not be the hot setup for mx.
