what are some good mods to do to my bike i have just bought???

Frame guards
Disc guards
Metal reinforced hand guards
Remove baffle from stock muffler and replace carb jets appropriately
Consider Baja Designs street legal dual sport kit

Keep everthing else as stock as possible, performance mods (muffler, pipes, cams, piston) are costly, will reduce resale value, and utimately give you headaches. Stock xr600r has plenty of power without mods. If more performance needed, sell xr600 and buy crf450 or xr650r.

Get the suspension, both ends, revalved and resprung by a professional for your type of riding, best money you will spend on the bike.

I have a 98 xr600 and have installed a fmf powerbomb header with q4 muffler. I also had a 97 intake manifold installed, removed the snorkel and had it jetted according to fmf specifications. The power difference is extremly noticeable. It doesn't have as much midrange hit as my 2000 xr650r with power up kit, but the low end torque feels the same and it seems to rev higher. I have had ZERO problems since and only improvements.

XRidiculous, where did you get the hydraulic clutch from, SRC? Just wondering, I got one from them and it said that it was for a YZ 450F. Wondering if it's the right one, as I didn't see the XR600 specifically on the website. (Wife got it for me.)

What type of riding will you be doing? For woods and trails, lower gearing and protective hardware are the 1st mods I would do. Proper suspension setup for you weight and type of riding next, then performance mods like pipe, jetting, airbox and airfilter. Most important is seat time with each mod to evaluate the pros and cons before adding the next mod.

i ordered the kx250 one for my bike and bought this little extension piece to make it work if you want i can post some pics of how it worked out

Suspension for weight and riding style. Scotts steering stabilizer. Uncork. 628 kit w/stage 1 hotcam.

A foam air filter, carb and pipe make a huge difference for 93 up 600s. And the engine stays stock to keep the reliability peaked.

make sure you have a good air filter, no snorkel, jetted right, then get your suspension done and you got a bad lil bike
