Not sure about 2001, but my stock 1999 400F top speed (from Dirt Bike mag info I believe) does 78 mph. The 426 should be in that ballpark.

I saw 76 mph on my GPS while going across a field. It was a quick look because I was way out of control....LOL.

02 YZ426 with stock gearing.

My riding buddy has a 01 YZ426F with stock gearing. His TrailTech computer indicates he tops out at around 80 mph.

It all depends on gearing. With my 14/48 gearing my 426 will do about 82mph. With my Baja gearing, 15/58, it will do about 90mph. It all depends on the gearing.

If you enjoy canyon jumping ...terminal velocity is around 120 mph. The quick stop at the bottom is a real drag I hear.

You need to take a ride on my Gixxer 1000; the '03 stock-geared model (6-speed tranny) touches 100 mph (according to magazine tests using radar gun) in 1st gear!!!!!

Now that's getting a bit out of hand.

I haven't actually clocked my YZ426, but I am guessing around 70-75 with 14/50 gearing... now my WR would push 100+ easily with stock gearing.
